Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

If they don't have some sort of power supply that means the cars will have no interior lights at night.

Not sure if this is the type of cabins Disney will have but Doppelmayr has the ability to have lights in the cabins. So there has to be some power

Very interesting video. First, the D Line is the system being installed at WDW. Second, early in the video there is a wire from the top of the car going up to the cable. It doesn't show what it is connect too but it may be the wire feeding power to the lights. Third, it shows the ventilation system being good for summer time and urban environments.

If so, I don't believe this has been officially announced. Like many other parts of the system there have been many opinions but I don't believe whether they will/will not have a speaker system inside the individual gondolas has been announced.
I was referring to the monorail.

I don't think it is power related. the pic below shows the top wire as well as a solar panel on the car. If the top wire is power, they wouldn't need a solar panel, right?

as mentioned up thread, it's the communication wire. Just about every device of this type has one. Basically covers the phone line to the different stations, and control info like starting and stopping the machine. Sometimes additional cables are run for different purposes, but you must have the communication hard line.

That makes sense.

Yes, lighting and other powered devices are an option from Doppelmayr, the question is whether that Disney will choose the option or not. I think internal lighting is less of a concern these days since most people have cell phones which provide light if it's really needed.

Wouldn’t they need some sort of cabin lighting in an emergency situation? I could see uncomfortable people freaking out in the dark if the system were to stop.

Keep in mind, these things aren't strung over the everglades. There is artificial light everywhere they go.
I imagine they have some sort of moderate LED lights in the footwell area. Those will not require much power and could be solar powered, but I'm not sure they are even really needed, as the load and unload process will be in well lighted stations.
