Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Reading that post doesn't convince me the haulrope is going up just yet. I think we'll see the same communications wire that we saw on the AOA to CBR line. I imagine whomever is installing whatever that cable is, is doing on anything that is ready first. Then Haulrope will go up soon I'm sure, but I don't think it's going up first.
Do people see the huge spools that the haulrope are somewhere near the towers?

Cool!!! That makes me think we are not that far off here. Probably less than six months?
The system will be ready well before that. It comes down to Disney and how much training they want to conduct. And other factors that aren't directly related to the Gondola.

Edit: Just to add that I've seen lifts open to passengers 6 weeks after the first tower has gone up.

I think it really depends on how much testing and training is required. The final piece of the track for SDD was put in place Aug 1, 2017 but the ride did not open to guests for almost another year. Even though we may see what appears to us to be a completed system, I'm guessing it will be a while after that before Disney actually opens it for guest use. I would love to be wrong but I think @skier_pete's guess of 6 months is probably the earliest we'll see actual guests riding the Skyliner and personally I think 6 months is a conservative guess. I'm guessing mid-late summer next year before it's open for guests to ride.

I would think they don't run this until the Riviera is open. However, I suppose they could run the AoA line to CBR and CBR to DHS.
I think the training period mentioned is a bit long.
These are installed in a summer at ski resorts, and put into use around late november.

There is no reason that an unfinished Riviera would prevent this from opening.

I think the amount of testing required for a gondola system will be somewhat less than that of a roller coaster just because gondolas are fairly standard transportation vehicles. My point was that once they "Pull the cable" that usually means it's pretty close to going on-line for testing. And while I agree Disney could hold it longer for test, but I agree with what your saying 6 months is the minimum but I think it's a pretty good bet if they could get it up and running by summer they would.

I don't think they will let Riviera's opening prevent them from price increases at Pop, AoA and CBR...um..I mean from easing transportation at Pop, AoA and CBR. As long as the station is finished, I think they run it and just don't off/on load there.

Plus SDD had to wait for the rest of the land to be completed before it could open.

Why? It can easily just run through that station.

No functional reason
Aesthetic reasons absolutely. They aren't going to want guests to go through a half finished hotel site. As soon as it looks presentable from the view of the station, then you are probably good to go.
Also remember there is a question as to how the riviera station will work and whether it will require riders to disembark and reload as it a bit different than the turn station at boardwalk parking lot.

The hotel won't be half finished when the gondolas are ready to go. There will be no disembarkation as far as I know.

There's no reason to make riders get off and back on again. Intermediate stations are common, especially on the existing urban gondola systems.

No, there's no question at all. Riders will not disembark. You can tell by the design.

That looks like a lot of guessing. Those routes don't quite make sense as drawn, or at least the one to disney springs doesn't.......though I would love to see it happen.

Sorry - the guy is quoting Jim Hill. When your information is second hand from Jim Hill, you don't know what you are talking about.

let's not get started again on the AC debate. And he's completely wrong with "the seats fold up and they will hold 16 people". Completely wrong. There are weight capacities on these things. And if they say "holds 8-10" then that's what it holds. Plus there's been pictures of the cars. Those are not 16 people cars.

Please explain

It's a continuous run / turn at that station. It's not an end loop like you will be getting at the CBR station. There would be no reason to have people get off and get back on. It would just clog up the area. The station there is also much smaller. They could not handle the entire capacity from Pop, AOA, CBR AND Rivieria that is going to riding through that station. Remember, Rivieire has about 600 rooms, that's like 10% of the total people using the system. They're not going to make 90% of the people disembark and reload. It is MUCH easier to run every 5th or so cab empty from CBR and IG during busier times to ensure there's room for Riviera guests to load.

t's like saying they would make everyone get off the Friendship boats at each dock.

I've never heard of this site before. How reliable is their information? What is their source?

I'll wait to hear confirmation from more reliable sources, but that's just me. :)

Their source is Jim Hill. It says so in the article. So not a reliable source.

But Ziggy Knows Disney so it must be true.
