Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Somewhere in one of the streams he or someone else mentioned the 2 line system, 1 line is for 3 or more and the second is for 2 or less..so basically a single rider line to help load up the cabins to capacity.
We've ridden the Skyliner several times this week and they have never used the two lines to divide groups by size. It's just two lines, which gives the CMs more to work with when loading and keeps things moving even when one group struggles to herd the troop forward (taking small children by the hand, etc.)

Same yesterday. In fact, it was like the dual lines at QS food locations: everyone was going into the left line, so I walked right up to the front in the right line.
As one of the bloggers says, people love nothing more than joining a line and often miss that there are options to go elsewhere in a shorter line! :)

Are you allowed to take food and drinks on the gondolas? I couldn't find anything when I searched for this

I would guess the answer is yes since they installed a Joffrey's right at the CBR station but I'm wondering if it's like the buses and you may take it on but they would prefer you wait to eat/drink until after exiting the Skyliner?

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered. My question is do you have to get off the Skyliner at each stop or could I ride from IG to HS and on to PoP and back to IG without getting off? Thanks in advance.

The only station where you DON'T have get off is Riviera.

Think of the CBR station like the TTC for the monorail - so it is the "hub" that everyone needs to get off there to either get off the system or change lines. So you would ride from IG to CBR, get off and get on the line for POP/AoA ... get off and then if you just want to go back, get back on that line back to CBR, get off there and get on the EPCOT line to get back to the IG

UGHH. I'm here now and there seems to be a lot of issues at least on the POP century part.

It has been closed several times due to mechanical issues. Yesterday, at three pm I tried to ride it and it was closed. On Wednesday it hadn't work all morning.

I wish they had a way of letting guests now when its closed. Because it stinks to walk all the way to the skyliner to find out its not working. Only then to have to walk to the buses. You cant tell by seeing them move.. Because sometimes when there moving its still closed. I've only ridden the skyliner once so far!

They could probably stand to put something in MDE about the operating status of each line. Obviously not for minor stops, but if they are expecting a major delay or downtime then a way for guests to know not to head to the stations. Particularly important for resort guests who need to decide to head to the skyliner or bus stops without wasting time/energy.

What is Transportation showing on your MDE app? Does it indicate if the Skyliner is open or closed?

That's what I thought when I saw the Joffreys too...can anyone confirm?

At IG station about 4pm today, cm was telling a Guest that all double strollers had to be folded. There was virtually no line.
Thanks for sharing. There goes the thought it might only be during busy times.

I'm wondering if this is an issue of seating capacity, or of maneuvering-time when unloading.

Has anyone observed how people with open single strollers are tending to move them off the gondolas? Are they turning them inside the gondola cabin and rolling off forward, or are they backing them out?

If they are backing out, and the folks in charge of load practice observation are seeing slowdowns and/or fall potential in that practice, that would explain requiring doubles to be folded. Doubles are mostly too wide to turn inside the cabin without being able to lift a bench, and the door clearance is rather tight for backing out, which makes the process a tad slower.

As someone with a double that meets the requirements, I was just really hoping to see/hear confirmation from someone who has done it that you can bring a double on unfolded! I was hoping that video was going to be that confirmation!

Somebody soon will have that answer I would bet.

If they have to be folded, it’s actually probably easier to just take the bus from Pop than have to deal with the transfer.

Luckily stroller needs are usually temp as the kids grow. This will likely be a transportation option for the next 50 plus years.

Outside of the “ride” aspect,

Which is huge for many of us, more important than a simple "which is faster" time comparison (within reason of course).

and I lose the main convincing point for the height adverse members of my group! Still holding out hope, but coming to the reality that we will probably just be taking the bus.

Yep can't help with the fear of heights, so like the last 50 years, buses are a great option.

I wouldn't want to back out of a gondola. They move a bit more than I expected when you're getting on and off.

Everybody must transfer at CBR, and you are not allowed to stay on board and return at any of the terminal stations.

Thanks everyone for the answer about have to get off when riding from IG to HS or PoP, I appreciate all the answers. I'm looking forward to riding the Skyliner on my next visit to the world. :thumbsup2

Is there anything about transportation on the app? I searched it and found a blurb on the monorail and something about water transportation. Is there somewhere that shows bus arrival, etc?
