Planning with two families

We are planning a trip with two households, hoping to book a two bedroom directly through Disney.
How do we set up My Disney Experience with a package with 4 adults/4 kids?
Both households will be contributing to the cost.
Can we both make payments on the same package with different credit cards/gift cards, or can only one person be in charge of the account?
Would welcome any tips for setting up the MDE account so both families can make reservations for meals/fast pass etc.

I can't help with the question about making payments, but I can help with this! Both families need to be set up as Friends & Family in each other's MDE accounts and need to grant each other permission to plan and share plans and view each other's photos, etc., even the children. Once everyone is connected like that, when booking LLs and ADRs whoever is doing the booking can check off all the names of those who will participate in that event, and those people will see the LL/ADR in their plans in their own MDE accounts.

Each family has/creates their own mde account. Then you can book 2 rooms (1 person can book them - just assign them to the right guests) and have them note that it's a party traveling together. After each family can make their own payments through their account or by calling and using their individual reservation number.

Make sure you all "friend" each other to make things easier for booking things like lightening lanes and sharing pics.
