Just curious if anyone knows of a transportation service to the Kennedy Space Center. We would like to visit during our stay in June.

NOTE: This is an old post from May, 2008 and has been resurrected (see post #7). Continued discussion is fine but keep in mind the original question was asked a year ago.

In short, no. If you are staying at a non-Disney hotel, such as those in the Downtown Disney area . . . or off-property . . . they usually do have shuttle service to non-Disney attractions.

You can get a car rental company to pick you up at your resort, shuttle you to the rental office (Hertz is at Shades of Green on the WDW resort - near the Grand Floridian). That would be your best way of getting offsite from WDW, aside from a taxicab (which would be VERY costly). Just ask your DVC resort's Bell Services to call a Hertz shuttle for you.

Disney doesn't want to provide transportation for Disney guests to visit other places than their own parks and resorts.

You can just google and you'll find some companies that offer bus service to KSC. Although you'd probably be better off renting a car for the day. It depends on how many are in your party.

There is also a car rental company (National I think) at the Dolphin Hotel. We reserved on line a couple of times to get the better price and picked the car up there.

BTW... As you can see on our VB info thread you can get free KSC passes by contacting your local congressman and asking for them. A number of people going to VB this summer have already done it. :)

Just as a heads up there is a good chance that there will be a shuttle launch on June 13th (if that happens to be one of the days you will be at WDW) at 7:30 am, if it formally gets scheduled we will be driving up to see it.

I got a good rental rate at the Avis location in the hilton at Downtown Disney. I just take a bus to DTD Marketplace and just walk right across the street to the hilton to pick up my car.

That's a really long thread to look through - I didn't have time today at work - which page is it referenced on? We wanted to go to the SC several years back, but the boys were so young we didn't really want to spend the money - but now their both old enough and learning about the program and such in their studies, that it would be a cool thing to include on our trip in Jan...plus we're bringing my folks along, and they'd love to go too.

Contact (call) you're local congress person and ask for the free passes to KSC. When this thread started passes were available, but after a while they were gone... so, now is the time to make contact and ask for them again... Good luck :thumbsup2 There are two shuttle launches in May... I will miss them both :sad1: by a hair.

Thanks Rob.

My DH and Brother just did this exact tour in March of this year. You can go over to the Swan and there is a desk that can arrange for your tour. They pick you up right at the Swan on your designated day and return you back around 6:00 (give or take) that same day.

They both came back talking their heads off and had a fantastic time. I know it was a little pricey as compared to renting a car and driving yourself. But on vacation nice to sit back and have someone else do the driving.

They both highly recommended the tours offered over at the Swan.

Hope that helps!
