Disney Sans MDE App

Getting the pre-trip jitters over here and starting to worry about things that probably don't need to be worried about.

The My Disney Experience app doesn't work on my phone. I've told my cousin (who's coming with me) to download the app, but I don't want to harp on her about it (she's even more nervous than I am, so I want this to be as easy for her as possible).

Realistically, how bad is it to go to WDW without the app? Are the FP+ kiosks bad? Should I be prepared to not have a trip as convenient as it could be?

It won't be a convenient as it could be. I keep track of my ADRs, FPs, ride times, etc with the MDE. Maybe once you get there and your cousin can see how inconvenient the parks are without the MDE, she'll want the app loaded on her phone. Is a trip doable without MDE? Absolutely. It just won't be as easy. And nothing at WDW is easy now even with the app. Maybe look at it this way--the trip will be way more spontaneous than if you're glued to your phone like I will be.

You can use the web version of MDE in a browser.

I would recommend the app, because it is so much easier to get your 4th fastpass on the app than walking all the way to a kiosk which can take up a lot of time. There are not a lot of kiosks in the park. Probably two different areas in each park. That is also if you have already pre-booked your three fastpasses for each day you are there. If not, then you can get three fastpasses when you get into the theme park from a kiosk or from the app.

The app isn't compatible with my phone either. I used the web version on Chrome on my phone all week this past week and it was fine.

MDE is not compatible with my phone either. the website kept crashing in Chrome for some reason; installed the Firefox app and that works fine.

Actually I rarely use the app when at the parks and my last trip was last November. I am not tied to my technology and don't feel I have to be to enjoy the parks.

You betcha.....but I have used the disney shopping app

But my kids have a "19" before their birth year and they use apps all the time

I have the app but often found accessing MDE through a browser was much easier/more efficient.

I've periodically had issues with the app on my smartphone. I went to the concierge desk at my resort, and they were very helpful and got it running for me. I've known others who had to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it working. Good luck!
