Disney Rewards Vacation Discount Question

My wife and I already booked our vacation for Jan 31st - Feb 6th and paid in full. We also just signed up for the Disney Rewards Visa. If we want to receive the discount when they announce it to rewards card members would we have to rebook and pay with the Rewards Card? Or will they just apply it to the account we've already paid with? Just curious if they require you to pay with the Disney card to get the discount early.

If you're utilizing a Disney visa they usually require a deposit using the visa. So you'd just out down a new $200 and either leave the previous deposit on or have it refunded.

Ah, yeah that's the problem. We already paid it in full.

You can pay another $200 with the Disney Visa and have a credit on your room so you could charge stuff to your room while there or ask them to refund you $200 of previous payments either to the card you originally used or receive a check if it wad cash.

There is no guaranteed (automatic) Disney Visa Rewards discount on rooms. Generally when Disney offers a General Public discount it is preceded by the same offer made to Disney Visa holders. Its the same offer, its just that Visa holders get usually a 2-4 day advance booking window prior to it being made available to the public.

Because you'd be booking a discounted offer, its possible you'd have to rebook and not necessarily have it applied to your existing reservation. It would depend on availability and if your current resort is part of the discount.

Yeah, I wanted to make sure we'd be able to use the extra few days that they give to Disney Rewards members because it's much more likely that the resort(All StarMu) would have availability still.

One last question, sorry I'm a Disney noob(only one other trip as an adult), haha. If we had to rebook our trip, would we it get rid of all of our dinner reservations or do those all stay in the system seperately?

Thanks so much for your help!

They stay separate.

Needing to rebook is unlikely. Even if your resort isn't available they can modify you around instead of rebooking.

If what you have booked now is not a package (tickets included, dining plan, etc) then you would have to rebook if the discount you were applying was pkg. If you have a room only and are only applying a percent off, you can just apply it.

Yeah, ours is a package. Talked to Disney and it looks like they'll just refund $200 to the card it was originally paid with, then charge $200 to the Disney Rewards and apply the discount. We're just going to have a really big credit on our Southwest card.

Good luck. The current fall promotion booking period ends 10/3, so I would assume that if history continues to repeat itself, you should see whatever discounts for your time period being published around that time.
