Hi--has anyone had experience using the Disney reward card (from Bank One Disney Visa)? I have been saving up my Disney points and faithfully transferring them to the card every month for use at our November trip. I was wondering if anyone ran into trouble using the Reward card at say, a Downtown Disney restaurant (like HOB).

Thanks for any info!

During our trip in Feb 2004, I used the Rewards card at several resort restaurants and had no issues whatsoever. The bill comes, you give them the card, they run it through and give you a recipt showing your remaining balance on the card.

However, I did not try to use at a DTD restaurant, so I don't know if the experience would be the same there.

I don't think you'd be able to use it at most of the restaurants at DTD - House of Blues, Wolfgang Puck, Rainforest Cafe, etc.... These restaurants are not owned by Disney; therefore, I would think they wouldn't accept Disney Dollars or the Rewards card. You can't make a ps for them either through Disney Dining.....

Ask the waiter. However, I think they have to be Disney properties to accept the card. I bought my mugs and souviners at the parks with mine.

If you are staying at a Disney resort, a better idea might be to put your reward points on your resort account when you check in. Then charge all your meals and puchases to your room. That way you have just one transaction with the Rewards card; less potential for trouble. We did that last year and it worked fine. (Except that it took the front desk CM about 10 minutes to transfer the points.... don't know what the trouble was!)

For what it's worth, we bought bath items at Basin's in DTD this year using the reward card, no problem.

Well...I know I used an AKL voucher at Rainforest Cafe in AK. They have a Rainforest Cafe in DTD, but I don't know if the voucher could be used there. The point to this is, I don't think RFC is owned by Disney, yet they allowed a Disney voucher.

I am wondering if I will be able to use my Rewards Dollars for F&W Fest in Epcot.

I do know you can get Disney Dollars with the Rewards Dollars, so that may be an option for me.

Isn't the Disney Rewards Card a Visa card?
If so, wouldn't it be accepted in all restaurants?

I'm looking at getting one of the Bank One Disney Visas in the next week. I wonder if we're talking about the same thing.

Would someone please clarify for me?

Thanks!

Two questions...

1. Is the Rewards Card good at walk up places for say...a hot dog?

2. How long did it take everyone to get their card?

The card came within a couple of weeks. Once you have the card though, you can transfer points instantaneously via the website. I believe you can call as well to transfer points too.

one word of caution - I used my rewards card last April to for partial payment of my Cont. Resort bill. The CM posted it to the wrong account - somebody elses bill got a nice credit. I noticed this when she handed me the receipt - thankfully I caught it. It tool her a long time to get it back and then on my account.

There is a Disney Visa card which is a standard credit card.
After you have earned Reward Points (which are essentially "Disney Dollars") by using the Disney Visa, you need a way to spend these points on Disney services and merchandise.

You do this by using a Reward Card, which is a separate card distinct from the Visa card. (Mine is blue //correction//, while the credit card is red.) It only allows you to spend your Reward Points, so it is only accepted at Disney outlets. Before you can do this, you need to electroncally transfer the points from your Visa account to your Rewards account.

Seeing how I had no trouble and no 10 minute waits to process the transactions when I used the Rewards card at some resort restaurants, I'm not sure I agree that this is really a better idea.

Another Question: Is there any reason to transfer the points every month? I just let mine build up until I'm ready to go- keeping an eye on the expiration date for the points of course.

This is simply NOT true!

Not true of what? I meant to say this is true of the Rewards card, which is related to the Disney Visa, but is not the same card. If you know of another way you can use the REWARDS card, NOT the VISA card, please let us know the details.

Sorry, I may have misunderstood you when you said Disney Outlets. I didn't know what you were referring to. It can be used at the resorts, DTD, food courts, restaurants, tickets, food booths at F&W festival, special events, etc. I guess when you said "outlets" I was thinking shopping only. Sorry!

That's OK! I agree "Disney Outlets" could have been confusing. I was trying to think of a good way to say "anyplace Disney", but probably should have said just that.

That is a great idea to purchase the mugs with the disney reward points! I think I will do just that!!
