Disney Reveals New Details on Shanghai Disneyland

Here is a side-by-side comparison of SDL and MK at the same scale. I may have misjudged the exact boundaries of the attraction areas of Shanghai. It may be bigger than the yellow line or it may be smaller.

One thing that jumps out at you is that MK is a very compact park, except for the large spaces dedicated to the back nine of Rivers of America/Tom Sawyer, Jungle Cruise and Tomorrowland Speedway. The parking lot inside the berm between Carousel of Progress and Main Street is arguably the biggest waste of space.

Then again, MK has by far the most rides of any Disney park so ... size ain't everything.

I wouldn't say it's short on rides, but then again,I'm comparing it to the opening of Disney MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, HKDL and Disney Studios Paris

MGM was of course supposed to be a working studio so that's why it lacked rides. Disney studios Paris was rushed because of government, HKDL had a lot chopped from its line up, it was supposed to open with a lot more than it did. At least all of them have gotten better over the year except for maybe DHS.

I thought DL had more rides? I know for sure that DL and DCA combined have more attractions than all of WDW.

Yep this park is unlike anything ever done by Disney before. Like Iger said they want it distinctly Chinese. This is the kind of park that will be marketed to only mainland China, they basically don't want anyone else there.

And they made a wise decision, in my opinion. Back in the day, Disneyland Paris along with the crystal pyramid in the Louvre and McDonald's burgers were a clear sign of America taking over France. Many were not too happy.

Well Shendi having such a huge role in this park had a lot to do with that.

I thought DL had more rides? I know for sure that DL and DCA combined have more attractions than all of WDW.

DL and DCA have more rides than WDW, but I don't think it has more attractions. WDW has more shows than DLR. I'm pretty sure DL has more attractions than MK though, and definitely more rides.
