Hi Diser's!

Just called Disney asking for 4 nights =September 30th check out October 4th - at the following Resorts:

Polynesian - $2300 - $3200 (standard and lake view pricing)
AKL - $1468 - Standard
Wilderness Lodge - $1700 Standard
Copper Creek Studio $1800
Copper Creek 1 BR $2800.

I was shocked! Is it just me or do you think it is way over priced? I also thought that September 30 was in a lower season. I would hate to see what the Christmas season pricing is.

Thoughts?

Thanks Everyone!! :)

Curious, why call? Why not go online and check for pricing yourself? Because to me it appears they are giving you rack rate pricing, not promo pricing. Provided of course, there is a promo available for those dates. I know we are staying at WL in a few weeks, CL and are not paying even a quarter of that price. Not 4 nights but if I divide the rate you are showing by 4, our rate is way lower.

Hi there!

Oh we always did call! We also ask for any promotions. These rates were on a promotion called "Enchanting Escape" LOL! I even asked for annual pass pricing and those were the rates she gave me. When you go on line how do you know if they added any discounted rates?

Because you choose the discount offer you want to book on MDE.

You can easily do online searching at https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers to see all general discounts, you will still have to call for AP discounts if you don't currently have an active AP or a new AP certificate linked to your MDE account.

October is now a very busy month. If you could move your trip dates to start earlier in Sept and ending by Sept 30 you will see better discounts. Currently the key date is thru Oct. 7th. Try Sunday - Thursday's for lower rates.

Hi Dave!

Thank you so much!

Nope. It's not just you. Disney resort prices are very high. Overpriced? Maybe. You do get some perks for that extra money. Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton in some cities are more than the $575/nt Poly standard view. Four seasons Orlando is only about $50/nt less.

I've already looked at Christmas pricing.

DON"T LOOK!

Scary!!

Exactly. If you can go 1 month earlier the rates for AP rooms at the deluxe resorts are running about $300-$350 a night. Now I realize that doesn't work for everyone but early Sept rates are incredibly low.
Rates in October aren't bad BUT availability is horrible. And due to quirks in their pricing structure it will return Rack rates and still show a Promo name if only 1 out of the entire range is promo pricing. So you can have 5 nights, 4 nights rack rate, 1 night promo rate and still have "Enchanted Package" show on the title. But you won't know this if you don't do the pricing online for yourself. You have to get to the final payment page and open up the detail to see the night by night breakdown (you do this before you process the final check out). That way, if you don't like what you see, you can go back and search some more. This is why I never, ever call. I always do it myself.

September prices are better but I have always avoided the heart of the hurricane season, late august through the end of September. Even early October can be tricky, we had to cut short our early October Florida panhandle beach trip last year by a day due to a strong tropical storm. Pain in the neck and we had trouble returning home too.

Yeah, it's a toss up. Matthew was in Oct. Irma in Sept. Though Matthew ended up more towards the East coast and not Orlando. So you never know. It's Mother Nature. Of course you never know.

It has always been over priced, to be honest the rate you got on AKL is a pretty decent deal. I have seen the rooms at a much higher rate lol.
