Disney Removes the Ability to Leave Reviews on FB?

I am reading it because I always find it amusing to listen to people complain and complain and not answer simple, straight-forward questions.. Who told you that Disney management looks through this site?
I find people like yourself who try to tell others what to post amusing too. Or if you're not trying to tell others what to post, you are at the very least asking questions that people don't want to answer. I won't answer those questions either. Why? Because I don't want to.

Back to the topic.... Someone posted earlier that Disney might have shut down the comments section while they do some damage control or run some updates. Maybe so.

Please. It may not be "management" but rest assured, they have people assigned to this site to record reactions and concerns. This latest move to hide the concerns or opinions of paying customers comes across as pretty ignorant on their part. A lot of people who have stayed onsite AND help them "test" this thing haven't even been given the opportunity via a survey sent to them.

And I post here because I am still waiting for them to build a Wall-E attraction. I wouldn't want to miss that announcement. It doesn't hurt that I am a huge fan of train wrecks.

I always find it amusing when posters think they can dictate who can post where. As long as I follow the rules set forth by the site, I can post what and where I like without defending or justifying it to anyone.

Thanks for posting this! Very cool! Looks like they are doing a beta test of their own reviews and ratings site. Now that couldn't possibly be the reason they disabled reviews on Facebook - no it has to be the unfavourable FP+ reviews.

That site has been around at least the couple of years I'm aware of. I distinctly remember it because they've always collected quite a few negative reviews of Stitch and Captain EO :)

They should go back to no FP and be more like US. Then they can charge you for a FP, or if you stay on site then you can get one Fp per ride for your entire stay. Let's just take away FP plus and then no more bad reviews. The lines for regular people at US are horrid. They will get worse with the new opening, I will stick with Disney. FP doesn't bother me, I know I seem to be in the minority, but I have tried it now 5 times since October, shortest trip was 4 days, and we made it work well for us. I have tried it, worked out the kinks for us, and can't wait until our next trip.

We loved the old FP, tried to dislike the new one due to all we heard, but we couldn't dislike it, we could sleep later and still have FP for our favorite rides, and yes I usually set up our FP in the morning after we decide which park we want to go to, and we can still get what we want in the time frame that works for us.

I think the website got overrun with the same people returning to the site to make numerous hates. I don't have time to troll a site, not sure I would notice the changes. I chose to make lemonade, not sour faces!

Maybe because people are beyond disappointed at the new and improved FastPass, and because people have strong positive feelings and memories of something that seems like it might be gone forever- like the ability to ride and do things the way they used to, and because people wish that things could be good again- good in their own eyes, not someone elses eyes, and because they don't want their trips to the most magical place on earth to be over-because it just isn't worth the exorbitant amounts of money it costs to visit WDW for them, and because waiting in lines is not quality time for many families- and they want the old magic back.....[/QUO

This is so true!!

They haven't disabled the comments, just the reviews. Lake Travis seems to be an active commenter. :)

In my experience, people who own and operate reputable, competent, and desirable businesses allow people to post ratings/reviews on their site because they are proud of their business and have nothing to hide. They, in fact, welcome such reviews because if they are offering a quality product, then they will receive mainly quality reviews, which is a form of free positive advertising. This was what Disney was doing/allowing on their page for years.

Obviously if you have nothing of value to offer the public or are not confident in your product, then yeah...I guess you would probably want to keep tight reigns on what you allow people to post on your page. To me, that fact alone speaks volumes about the business itself.

(Clearly there is a difference between slanderous statements and honest negative reviews, so I'm not even going to touch the rest of your comment. Gross.)

Again, as I and others have pointed out, Disney allowed ratings/reviews to be posted on their site for years (thereby cashing in on the free positive advertising) and has just now made the decision to remove that capability...at a time when numerous customers were posting negative, non-slanderous reviews of their new system. The timing is suspect to say the least.

And yes, Disney (just as you do) has the right to censor their page. But it's my right to determine what that fact means to me as a customer.

I also allowed feedback on my page UNTIL I fired the wrong person one day.

Now the firing of this person was waaaaay past due. The firing was well deserved AND necessary. Unfortunately my FB page was immediately blown up with hateful, damaging comments. Comments that brought my morality and business ethics into question. Now to someone who doesn't know me who's looking at my FB page is going to think "oh my goodness!! I'm not going there!! That place has issues and the owner is a real jerk!" Even though I had nothing to hide. I was justified in every way. My business was now under attack.

The truth is consumers don't know ALL the facts nor do they care. They see BAD REVIEWS and they go running. Even though you are still supplying a fantastic product.

I don't blame them at all. In fact I've been there done that. The average consumer will say "oh look at all that negative stuff I'm not going to disney" (which is what the complainers want).

The sad thing is if they decide to avoid disney because of this change (heck they probably don't even know WHAT changed), that family might miss out on the most amazing trip of their lives.

Come on, Man! You can't blame the FB comments on the "ten of us"!!;) Just so we are clear here...I have read the site but never posted one comment. But I only went there once someone linked it when they posted that ridiculous Lock It In commercial.

Yeah, I did that about an hour ago to see if they pull them. So far I've collected a few "Likes" along the way.

I be trolling....... :)

Have you been there and used the new system yet?

Isnt reading comprehension enough?:confused3 People can read about FP+ and can determine for themselves if it will work for their touring style, ESPECIALLY if they have been there before. So if I read about FP+ before trying it but I was eager with anticipation to try it and I thought it was the best thing ever...would that be ok?

We went in early Dec and got in before the tiering. I dont need to experience tiering firsthand to know it stinks! We also got to double dip and that was great...but I guess that wasnt a true test so I shouldnt comment on threads because I havent truly experienced FP+???

Only one thing: Universal's onsite Express Pass includes unlimited rides not just one FP per ride. They do not include the major Harry Potter ride and a few other things though.

My place of employment does the same thing. We don't have staff to deal with "trolls" on facebook 24/7.

Well, how many annual vacations does your company ruin on average?

I'm not trying to tell people what to post but I am, apparently, asking questions people don't want to answer but I don't know why. If a person is truly upset enough by the change and they say they won't return, what's the point of posting on a board that discusses strategies for visiting that park?

It was a train wreck, it is one thing to be unhappy with a change, it is another to spread false information and fear mongering due to the change.

I am not surprised at all.

And I still don't think a large percentage of guests are upset, I just think those that are upset are very, very vocal about it.

Plenty of posters say that Disney reads these sites and it may well be true but I don't believe anyone can say with certainty that they do, unless I missed the announcement from WDW that they do.

Where have I told you not to post here? I was simply asking, given you have decided to no longer give them your business, why continue to post on the Theme Park Strategies Board?

They do read them but not as a gauge for likes or dislikes but more to find the loopholes and workarounds that only Net forum guests will find.
