Disney Removes the Ability to Leave Reviews on FB?

QUOTE=declansdad;50751948]For what purpose? I could understand the community board perhaps but why the theme park board if you have no desire to return to the park?[/QUOTE][

Maybe because people are beyond disappointed at the new and improved FastPass, and because people have strong positive feelings and memories of something that seems like it might be gone forever- like the ability to ride and do things the way they used to, and because people wish that things could be good again- good in their own eyes, not someone elses eyes, and because they don't want their trips to the most magical place on earth to be over-because it just isn't worth the exorbitant amounts of money it costs to visit WDW for them, and because waiting in lines is not quality time for many families- and they want the old magic back.....

I have negative opinions about fp+ and some other Disney "issues." I will still go to WDW. I still love so much about it. I will continue to post my opinions and "complaints" on a discussion forum. I also post about the things I love. Why should I stop going to WDW? And why should I stop discussing on a discussion forum?

You are still going to go to WDW so you are are part of the group I was asking.

There is nothing wrong with maintaining the discussion on the board if you are actually going to the park to get first hand knowledge but if you went once and didn't like it , what do you (general you) have that is new to add to the discussion.

Im sure many people, like me are looking at these boards to see how everything is going down. I would like to return sometime, but im not in a hurry. Not really interested in being a lab rat while something is in beta for 2 yrs.

I actually hope people read the reports on these very useful boards and decide they too should wait. People pay thousands of dollars for a trip and would rather not go when something is being tested on them.

I actually started reading these boards after my nov trip to see if people felt the same way...and obviously Im not the only one.

That's fair but I have also read reviews here and in other places of people that were happy with the system and had no problems. I think if you are planning a trip, you should continues to do so and reach your own conclusion about the system and the park.

Yeah, we get that they have every right to change their own page. Doesn't make it any less obvious as to why they did it and we have every right to point that out.

Get it?

Sure! You're crucifying a business for doing the exact same thing YOU would do if you found yourself in a similar situation. :confused3

It all depends on how people travel...we usually stop for one or two days as a side trips...we are day guests and have a 10 pack of non expiring hoppers we have been using for years. I have been there, but if I was someone who hadnt been there, and was in the same predicament...I could logically deduct that this was not a good time for me to visit...

Just like some can read the boards and see that the changes dont effect them, or that they may actually positively effect them.

If you were a business owner and treated your employees like crap, then there would be value in their posting that fact on your company Facebook page if you permitted reviews.

If you are an amusement/theme park and make changes that disappoint a large percentage of your customers, then there is value in their posting that fact on your company Facebook page if you permitted reviews.

As I mentioned earlier, there is a big difference between a company who starts a Facebook page WITHOUT the ability to post reviews and one who does but then later removes it because of negative reviews.

A big difference.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Big red flag...they allowed it and now it is gone, and I had been reading them and they were not favorable any more, lots of FP+ bashing.

So what do you hope to gain by posting?

Why are you reading this? What do you hope to gain and why do you even care? Actually it's well known that people within Disneys management look through this site and others like it.....

I went to the wdw in October with mixed feelings about fp+. I understand some of the appeal, but still like the old system better. I will be going again next week. (Very blessed, I know). I read the boards because I love WDW, and when I see something I want to respond to, I do :). Just like you do. Maybe neither one of us has anything new to say, but we like to discuss it ;). (Of course, we probably both think we have new wisdom to add with each response ). As far as having something new to add to the discussion, that's only a matter of opinion. I believe everything I've written is adding something new.

And that's a horribly bad and ridiculous analogy. You do understand the difference between valid complaints and lies, yes? No one is saying WDW has a bad VD, they are saying that their experience with these so called improvements is more than a bit disappointing.

You're missing my point. It's something that is damaging to them....just as someone posting about you having VD would be damaging to you. In both scenarios the damaging information would be removed......:faint:

Have you been there and used the new system yet?

Thanks for posting this! Very cool! Looks like they are doing a beta test of their own reviews and ratings site. Now that couldn't possibly be the reason they disabled reviews on Facebook - no it has to be the unfavourable FP+ reviews.

You are not allowed to spoil this rant. ;)

I was sent the same thing months ago.

I am reading it because I always find it amusing to listen to people complain and complain and not answer simple, straight-forward questions.. Who told you that Disney management looks through this site?

If it isn't a value to ME its not going to be on MY FB page. You wanna slam someone go pay to be on Angie's list and do it there. MY PAGE!! Get it?

What if someone got on your Facebook page and said "hey this person (you) has a bad VD!" Well I'm sure you're gonna think "well this information is valuable to somebody out there!" And leave it up for all the world to see. Yeah right....

In my experience, people who own and operate reputable, competent, and desirable businesses allow people to post ratings/reviews on their site because they are proud of their business and have nothing to hide. They, in fact, welcome such reviews because if they are offering a quality product, then they will receive mainly quality reviews, which is a form of free positive advertising. This was what Disney was doing/allowing on their page for years.

Obviously if you have nothing of value to offer the public or are not confident in your product, then yeah...I guess you would probably want to keep tight reigns on what you allow people to post on your page. To me, that fact alone speaks volumes about the business itself.

(Clearly there is a difference between slanderous statements and honest negative reviews, so I'm not even going to touch the rest of your comment. Gross.)

Again, as I and others have pointed out, Disney allowed ratings/reviews to be posted on their site for years (thereby cashing in on the free positive advertising) and has just now made the decision to remove that capability...at a time when numerous customers were posting negative, non-slanderous reviews of their new system. The timing is suspect to say the least.

And yes, Disney (just as you do) has the right to censor their page. But it's my right to determine what that fact means to me as a customer.

Lol. It very well could have been that the FP+ reviews were getting to them. But if they have been developing their own review and rating site for months perhaps it is just going live now? Or maybe they took down the FB reviews like they shut down legacy FP - for the purpose of a complete test where they ask all "official" reviews to be on the beta site rather than on the official FB page.

No problem, it does explain why they disabled reviews on Facebook and I thought it might help with the tension here. Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards
