Thought this might make an interesting thread. If anyone has been inspired in any way by something Disney: upcoming trip, being able to comfortably ride an attraction, etc., that those might be posted here.

Here's my Segway Diet.

When we were at WDW last fall, I wanted to try the Segway trial at Epcot, but then heard about the weight limit. So I've set an initial weight loss goal of 240 so that I would be under the 250 weight limit.

So far, my dietary goals are to cut way back on cheese and soda, and learning what is a portion/serving size. Having pizza every other week, before this pizza was at least a once a week meal, and probably at least twice on average. Dining out every other week. Truly fast food, once per month maximum. Attempting to get physical activity in twice per week. And probably my biggest issue, go to bed earlier to avoid the late night munchies, where massive amounts of calories were consumed right before going to sleep.

So as of 5/21/08:
Weight at 1/1/08 - 283 lbs
Current Weight - 249 lbs (34 lbs, 12.01% lost)
Sept. '08 Target Weight - 240 lbs
Lbs from Sept. '08 Target - 9 lbs
Long-Term Target - 200 lbs
Lbs from L-T Target - 49 lbs
Ultimate Goal - 180 lbs
Lbs from Ultimate Goal - 69 lbs

Monthly Weight Loss:
January '08 - 11 lbs (3.89%); 272 lbs
February '08 - 9 lbs (3.18%); 263 lbs
March '08 - 8 lbs (2.83%); 255 lbs
April '08 - 4 lbs (1.41%); 251 lbs
May '08 - 2 lbs (0.71%); 249 lbs

I am in the same boat but I started at 255. I am down to between 245 and 248 but my long term goal is 150. Good luck!!!!!! I know I need it... lol... :thumbsup2

I haven't lost any weight, and I don't know if I ever will, BUT, I have been pushing myself to get up and move doing some kind of exercise for at least 20 minutes every day, since early November. I missed about 5 or 6 days between then and a trip we just completed to WDW, but I was thrilled to see that my tolerance and stamina for all the walking and standing was WAY better than it's been on past trips!

Now I am cutting down on simple carbs and going for many many more fruits and veggies in my diet, and am going to step up the daily exercise to 30 minutes. I'm determined to be able to power walk a 10 hour commando day in the parks without hurting!

If I didn't have the major walking around the parks to train for, I don't think I'd have any motivation, really... so how's that for a Disney diet? :goodvibes

And your talking of Segways, that reminds me, I would like to get light enough so that my WaterMouse gets up on plane and goes faster out on Bay Lake!

my goal with each diet thus far--
was to look good in my disney pictures:laughing:
usually I look like a stuffed sausage complete with fanny pack and sweat shirt wrapped around my waist:scared1: :scared1:

so my goal is too have a skinny disney picture with my kids .

I second that!!! I was so embarrassed when we got back from Disney last December! We are hoping for another trip this coming December with all three kids and my parents. I would like to be in the pictures instead of behind the camera.:rotfl:

I 4th that!!!!! In the past I've always made sure that I was the one taking the pics. Next time, I want to stop for every photopass opportunity I can! And I'm gonna look gooooood!

Another thing I'm shooting for is this...DS always wants me to do the slides at Typhoon Lagoon. Of course the problem there is two-fold.
First of course, is the bathing suit. In the past, I've just worn one and tried to act like I was a size 2. Or 12 even! Next time, I want to actually be comfortable in a suit.
The other problem is I can barely make it up all those bazillion steps to get to the top of those dang water slides. I told DS that if I get in shape, I'll do Crushin' Gusher'! :scared1:

Haha... I don't do pools, slides, etc... LOL I don't want to go to WDW until I know my pics are gonna look good... LOL!

Once I lose the weight I'm going to do indoor skydiving which I am currently too fat for. :P

My Typhoon Lagoon pictures were horrific... I actually wanted to print them out and stick them on the fridge, they were bad enough. Didn't want to buy them, though, I can look bad in a picture anyday.

Not exactly positive thinking, is it?

I find that an upcoming Disney trip is a major motivator for exercise, too! I know I need to be in decent shape for all of that walking!

What's even worse is, some of the water slides at the hotels don't work well if you're heavy! There isn't enough water to push you along, and you go too slowly. I once went so slowly on the slide at the Coronado that the kid behind me crashed into me! (They might have started too soon, since there was no one timing people at the top of the slide, but it was still embarassing! Luckily, neither of us was hurt at all -- I guess because I had all that extra padding!)

Indoor skydiving sounds fun! What's the weight limit? Or, is there a website to the Orlando indoor skydiving place, where I can look it up?

Had to adjust my weights. Bought a new scale over the weekend and found out my old scale was 3 lbs. too low. I think I like the old scale better.

I don't want to hide behind someone or something in order to be in the picture!

:thumbsup2 I agree, I wanna look great and take advantage of all the photopass opportunities too!!!

I did go on Crushing Gusher.... and its quite bumpy for the larger size folks!!
-- so next time.... It's gonna be smooth sailing all the way down!!!

Not sure if I am fifthing or sixthing this:rotfl: BUT I agree 10000000%, I am SO TIRED of hiding behind my daughter in pictures so I dont have to look at my big legs and butt!!!! Someone told me that to make something a habit you need to do it for 21 days, I started my journey Jan 2 and to date I have lost 10.2 lbs, not much but its in the right direction

We are crusing Sept 2008 and I would LOVE to be at my goal 145, but I am not setting unrealistic goals, as long as i continue to lose i will be happy
ONWARD AND DOWNWARD
WE CAN DO THIS:grouphug:

After a slowdown in the weight loss, I've hit Segway eligibility.

Problem is, I'm not sure they're going to let me go on a Segway with the attire or lack of attire that I'm weighing myself in, each morning.

:lmao:

Congratulations!!!! 13 pounds in less than 2 months is awesome!! When will you be riding the segway? Have fun!!

Thank you.

We're going in September. Really looking forward to it, and not being so tired walking around the parks. I can already tell a huge difference, as I've taken arthritis Tylenol only a couple times since the beginning of the year. Used to be I'd take it a couple times a week for my knees.

Guys on my softball team have been kidding me about it. Telling me I'm only slow now, not really slow.
