That picture is hysterical! I would love to hear the story behind that one.

Priceless!

This is awesome! What a great group costume!

But - it all truthfulness - we have definitely observed some less than perfectly cast princesses...on the bright side -were at DL in September - and saw the most AMAZING Belle. Simply Perfect! And Flynn was also Phenomenal!

Unfortunately - the amazing ones being so good also made us notice the not as perfectly cast ones even more....

As if the picture didn't have enough going for it already, the old school Cylon from the original Battlestar Galactica in the middle just takes it to a whole new level.

Me too :lmao: My dd had shown that to me and when I read the OP's post I immediately thought of that picture.

Sorry. I just didn't want to offend anyone. It was definitely their looks. Their attitudes and acting were fine. Rupunzel looked nothing, and I mean, nothing like Tupunzel.

Yeah, I hate when they have fake Tupunzels! (J/K btw). :rotfl2:

This thread is full of win (unless you are a Disney Princess CM)

The last time we were there was 5 years ago, I don't have fresh info but all of our Princesses were fantastic. I hope we have the same luck next time. I feel like Disney should do their absolute best to cast girls that LOOK like the princesses that they are playing.

I can say thought that nearly every photo I have viewed of Mary Poppins has been disappointing. All of them are pretty, they just do not look like Mary. :(

I thought all the Princesses we met translated well. I mean, they're trying to play cartoon characters. Of course they can't look exact. I suppose if I wanted to pick them apart I could find flaws, but my little girls didn't say anything at all. Frankly, for most kids, the familiar dress and hair +behaviors is all they see. Although the Snow White we met at Fairy Tale hall really looked a LOT like Snow White, to me.

Maybe some cast members will have some info to share.

After I watched the Mine Train youTube video a couple weeks ago I was sucked into the YouTube Disney video vortex. From there, I saw the two young women who make the "confessions of a retired Disney Princess" videos. They discussed their audition processes at length. Granted, this was a few years ago, so I'd say if you saw Princesses that didn't look princessy, then something has changed for sure!

I used to think the princesses were just pulled from the college program participants, but these young ladies made it sound like multiple rounds of auditioning for the roles along with many girls. And it's not like they were going into a show. They both ended up working at the Akershus restaurant.

I know 2 girls who are there now, one on the college program and one full time. The one in the college program had to audition and she's Aurora. She is BEAUTIFUL!! She is there now and wont disappoint in the looks department. The other girl who is full time I got to talk to more about the process. It was intense!! She had to just stand and smile for the first round, read scripts, be video taped and then dressed in full costume. She said it was intense and there were about 300 girls there and not that many made it. She is Rupunzel and will train to be Ariel in the summer. They actually sent her and paid for her to get contacts to match her eye color because hers were green not blue.

to the OP Sounds like you must of seen some off characters. I know if you saw my friends you wouldn't think that :) I am not being bias they truly are amazing beautiful girls with the personality to match

Ok. So my wife and I noticed something on our recent trip. Although we had a nice vacation, Disney is certainly slipping. I do not want to go on a negative rant because it is my choice and I keep on going back, so something's working for us, but more and more we are seeing quality declining. One area seemed to be the princess face characters. I know that the princess dinners sometimes do not get the A-1 face characters, but when you get a FP for a Rupunzel meet, you are expecting A-1 princess...um, not the case. When my daughter asks, after the meet, who was that? I would say there may be an issue. We experienced some, well very un-princess-like face characters at the meets. A terrible, and I mean terrible, Rupunzel, a very bad Ariel, a very poor Snow White, and even a bad Jasmine. I don't want to go into detail about flaws, but let's just say I know, for a fact, that there are many young woman with the attributes to play these characters, and it really is a shame that Disney is allowing just about anyone to play theses parts. Maybe we just had a poor draw, but I was wondering if anyone else's had noticed? On a positive, Cinderella and Alice were amazing and spot on!

I totally get what you mean and was actually just talking about this in another post! I love to meet the princesses and we definitely got the "C list" during our trip in Jan. My husband and I had a running joke between us after each princess we met on just how bad they look! They used to be pretty spot on too! :( We saw a good Belle and a good Alice - the rest were terrible! There was one Snow White we met twice and she had the most annoying voice ever!

Oh, so that Snow White was spot on... At least her voice was.

I thought I was the only one who was bothered by "off" looking princesses. They are not terrible looking as PEOPLE but I think Disney needs to make an effort to make sure they look a little like the character.

On the last trip, I joked that the Aurora and Belle we met were mid 30 year old versions of them.

The worst one I ever saw was a Mulan who was clearly not Asian...she looked to be Hispanic. What in the world! It made me mad since Mulan is my favorite character. This is tolerable for shows and parades but NOT for a meet and greet.

The Aladdin we met was PALE PALE PALE. BUT, he sounded EXACTLY like the movie Aladdin and his acting was spot on so it made up for it. I joked with my sister that since now that he lives in the palace, he doesn't get that much sun anymore.
