Disney Princesses...Yikes!

I was actually really impressed with the princess we met at the meet and greets. Ariel even sang for out DD and wow she was incredible. Mulan, Poccahontas, Rapunzel and Snow White were all incredible with her and really looked the part.

I agree the princesses at the meals weren't as good but DD is too young to notice at the moment. We especially noticed at 1900
Park Fare with Cinderella but we had just got off the Disney Magic cruise that morning and the princesses on the cruise were incredible.

I was actually a bit disappointed with Peter Pan he was really tall and looked a bit old to be playing some one that never grows up. But he was amazing with our DD and played hide and seek with her.

We have never been disappointed in the princesses, although it has been over a year since we have been to WDW. With two DDs, trust me, we get up close and personal with a lot of princesses.

I did laugh one time as I pointed out to my wife the holes in Ariel's belly button where she normally has her belly ring. I have wondered since then if I asked about it if she would have said "that's where a fishing hook got me one time."

As if the picture didn't have enough going for it already, the old school Cylon from the original Battlestar Galactica in the middle just takes it to a whole new level.

Now I feel ticked that I didn't get to meet the Cylon at CRT. Oh, well... beggars can't be choosers.

Maybe that's where Buckeye was looking? :rotfl2:

What we really need is a Jessica Rabbit. :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I've never met an "off" princess.... though I know it'd bother me if I did. The Snow White I met on my last visit was spot on.... like creepy accurate in her acting - if there was anything physical, I was so enthralled by the other that I didn't notice... lol. :upsidedow I know that if I ever do meet one that doesn't quite do it for me that I'd be very put out. :sad2:

Ok. So my wife and I noticed something on our recent trip. Although we had a nice vacation, Disney is certainly slipping. I do not want to go on a negative rant because it is my choice and I keep on going back, so something's working for us, but more and more we are seeing quality declining. One area seemed to be the princess face characters. I know that the princess dinners sometimes do not get the A-1 face characters, but when you get a FP for a Rupunzel meet, you are expecting A-1 princess...um, not the case. When my daughter asks, after the meet, who was that? I would say there may be an issue. We experienced some, well very un-princess-like face characters at the meets. A terrible, and I mean terrible, Rupunzel, a very bad Ariel, a very poor Snow White, and even a bad Jasmine. I don't want to go into detail about flaws, but let's just say I know, for a fact, that there are many young woman with the attributes to play these characters, and it really is a shame that Disney is allowing just about anyone to play theses parts. Maybe we just had a poor draw, but I was wondering if anyone else's had noticed? On a positive, Cinderella and Alice were amazing and spot on!
~I think all the "friends" are gorgeous. It's a difficult position to fill --why would a girl work for Disney as a Princess when she can make 10 times that just in local commercial modeling/acting/hosting markets?

~Disney will always struggle to fill these roles because of that. Elsa is going to be incredibly difficult for Disney to keep up with because any girl that looks like Elsa can go straight to New York and work for Ivan or any other top NYC agency for countless thousands a day -- not to mention the clothes. Disney's princesses have always fit the role perfectly to me but it's been years since we've seen them aside from the parade floats. :goodvibes

We've had some good princesses and some.....well......princesses that were probably fill ins for the day because everyone else was ill. I tend to find better princesses in the MK than in EPCOT, although I will say that we had the best Ariel ever at Akershus, and to echo what another poster said, probably the creepiest Snow White ever.

I think for some reason Aurora is the hardest princess to correctly cast. I've had more bad Auroras than good. The last one we saw, in France at EPCOT, was....um.....pushing the limits of the costume size and had an entire face full of cystic acne she desperately tried to cover with layers of make up, but the Florida humidity wasn't doing her any favors. I tried to check my face and not look at her funny, but she was just so not what the normal park princess looks like I couldn't help it.

We have met some spot on characters. My DH's has been Jasmine! She was amazing. :p

I did not like the Ariel we met. She was just "off" some how.

The only slight deviations from the norm that I remember the last 3 trips are a Snow White that I suspected came straight from the Bronx (her accent while doing the high pitched voice was pure Betty Boop) and an Ariel that seriously set off my crazy chick radar (think of the "overly attached girlfriend" meme, google it if you need examples).

I don't disagree about these jobs being hard to fill, but there will always be a lot more beautiful people than high paying beautiful people jobs.

Oh man, you beat me to it.

My DH doesn't look at their faces either.

I admit- I don't mind visiting Ariel and Jasmine due to their midriffs. That's how I noticed Ariel's missing belly ring.

Beggars cannot be choosers! Sorry Jasmine didn't have the attitude that you wanted, but is it really the end of the world if you didn't get to see her? I mean, REALLY? :sad2:

The end of the world? No. But if this happened to me, I would have put in a complaint. At CRT, you aren't paying the food in front of you, you are paying for the location and characters. Also, the CM approached them and asked if they had seen all the characters. We have had this happen to us many times. If we have missed a character, we tell the CM. They want to know - that is WHY they asked "Have you seen all of the characters?" ;)

Don't you guys wonder what everyone used to talk about before FP+?

There were threads before FP+? :confused3 :lmao:

Last week DD ran in the WDW princess half marathon. Of all the characters along the way, her favorite was "Tick Tock" the crocodile from Peter Pan. She saw one of the princes relieving himself in the bushes. :rotfl: Not exactly princely behavior.

Maybe the jobs are hard to fill because they get sick of all these old dads gawking at them ;)

YES! Aurora has been the most consistent dud for us. Nothing wrong in the looks department, but total inability to carry on a conversation. We've had great Ariels (especially in the new grotto) and great Jasmines and a really awesome Cinderella at CRT. My favorite character interaction of all time was with Snow White at Akersus our first trip...my son (who wasn't even two at the time) spotted her and just started screaming, "Snow White! IT'S SNOW WHITE!" pointing at her and looking at us like, "OMG YOU GUYS DID NOT TELL ME THAT SNOW WHITE WAS GOING TO BE HERE!" Every time she tried to ask him a question, he'd just look at her, look at us in amazement and yell, "IT'S SNOW WHITE!" She was awesome and she was laughing so hard she was crying. My camera malfunctioned and I didn't get any pictures that turned out. **sad trombone**

After reading this thread...I couldn't help but post this pic from New Orleans. It's local news anchors dressed up as Disney Characters...Happy Mardi Gras!
