Does anyone know if the 5% back for the first 3 month is still going on for the premier Visa upgrade? When I first looked at the deal it said you had to upgrade by some time in April, but now the deal is not showing up on the site.

I also would like to know, so I can sign up before my next disney vacation and then cancel it after.

OK, just realized that if you hit the "upgrade" button it mentions the 5% deal.

Now my question is, if I pay down some of the balance for our cruise, will that be covered by the 5%?

Any answer on if you receive 5% on Disney payments on packages or cruises? Might be interested then...

You must upgrade by the 30th, but it can take a few days to go through, so call to do it and make sure they will use the call-in date and not the date that it actually goes through. Do NOT upgrade online. It can take 2-3 weeks to go through. Calling takes 3-5 days. As for cruise/trip/dvc payments, they will earn 5% during the first 90 days. After that, it is 2%.

ETA: The 5% back for the first 90 days is ONLY for those upgrading from the regular Disney Visa. Also, you must have had the regular card for at least one full year before you can upgrade.

Found out that I am not eligible for the upgrade because I have not had the card a year.

I just did the upgrade (phone) as I will be paying off my Disney cruise in June and that additional 3% (for a total of 5%) more than covers the annual fee.

Can you maybe apply for the Premier Card separately then? there's a link where you can apply and then get a $100 statement credit....if you do get approved and get the statement credit, maybe you can cancel the regular Disney card you have now? Here's the link just in case.....

we just upgraded ours last week and I'm curious to see how the 5% points will rack up for the first 3 months.... we're not booking our trip yet (since it's a next year trip) but I thought I'd go to Kroger and buy a bunch of gift cards to at least take advantage of the 5% (plus fuel points).

If you do want the premier card though, you might try just applying and seeing what happens since they won't upgrade you yet... good luck!!! :goodvibes

Thank you! For some reason, that never registered with me. I hope they indefinitely keep the 5% for 3 months promotion for those upgrading from the regular Disney Visa.

Right now that 5% offer is only good if you upgrade by 4/30, but who knows what (if anything) they'll do next. I just hope they will continue to run bonus offers periodically like they did with the regular Visa. :goodvibes

Just called to upgrade my card. I already have a Southwest credit card that has a yearly fee and I don't really want another card with an annual fee. However. we do regularly charge around $1000-1500 a month on our Disney Visa (always paying it off). We also have final payment for a Disney cruise coming up in July, so with the 5% bonus we should get over $200 in Disney Reward dollars from that alone. I think that it'd be silly not to upgrade. Nothing like waiting till the last minute though :lmao:

If I upgrade my card, is there a way to "downgrade" it after a year?

It makes sense for me this year (paying off a trip package within the next 2 months) but the annual fee won't be worth it after that as I pay cash for gas to avoid the $.10/gallon extra charge for using a cc and I live alone so groceries just aren't enough either.

How does that work if you've got a balance on your card? I haven't paid our bill yet for last month's charges (always pay it off) plus the billing cycle hasn't closed yet for this months charges. I don't want that to get messed up.

Also, card was originally in dh's name and I'm an authorized user so would he need to call to upgrade?

Your DH would need to call since it is his account. Your card number will be the same, but you will get new cards with a new expiration date and new 3 digit verification code. You can continue to use your current cards until the new ones arrive. You must upgrade by April 30 to take advantage of the 5% back for the first 90 days, and you have to have had your current account for at least one full year. I would call today if you want to get the 5%, just in case there is any lag time. Better safe than sorry. :thumbsup2

I believe you can since the regular card is still available. You would just have to apply for a new card and have another credit check run.

Is that worth $50-70?

For that I'm considering just getting a target card and buying gift cards. If I would have to go through the same process. (credit check, new card...)

I have two questions: 1. Does anyone know how you can tell when the 5% has kicked in? Dumb me did it online. I did it early last week, but I still have not received my card.
2. Does anyone know if peapod qualifies?
