I am considering applying for this card because they have 200 cash back after you spend 500 which is way easy!! It may be worth it just for that is what I am thinking!

Looking for experience with this card in general?

Thanks so much, KIM

We use the Premier Disney Visa for most of our household purchases, we usually have a 50/50 split between the 1% and 2% redemption cash on our purchases (forget which places get you 2%). We use the redemption cash for our MF's. We don't travel enough to use a Travel Specific Reward CC, so we have gone with the Disney Visa because we get the greatest return there of all CC's. We also used it to finance our direct purchase last year for 0% for six months, so that is a nice little perk. For the $49/year fee, we have gotten our moneys worth, and gotten a CC that everyone makes a comment about at the checkout line.

My wife and I use ours mostly for restaurants, where it's 2% back. In any given year, we accumulate enough to pay for our airfare and part of WDW food bill.

We have the Premier as well. It's worth the $49/yr fee as long as you're earning at least $100 in rewards/yr. This is the primary credit card that DH and I use. We get plenty of 2% back offers--for me it's grocery, gasoline, and Disney purchases! We've been saving our rewards dollars for the past year to use on our Disney cruise this summer--should pay for a good chunk of our port adventures! In the past we took advantage of the special character meet and greets at both Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

wow, awesome using it to finance direct purchase! Great idea! OK.. I am leaning that way. We already have a chase Southwest airlines card we love, we get lots of points for air.... but I can see value in having this one too especially if they are going to give me 200 bucks!

great idea!! You guys are bringing up great values on how to use it to the fullest!

We have a no fee card that gives more cash back so we don't have the premium Disney card.

I have a Disney Visa (non-Premier) but only use it for the Meet and Greet benefit. I have the Citi Double Cash card (2% on all purchases) with no annual fee. In addition, I have credit cards (no annual fee) with 3+% cash back on gas, groceries, and dining. As a result, the Premier Disney Visa is not a good fit for me.

All personal advice....

Don't bother with any Chase "Disney" Card. Just get a Chase "Freedom Unlimited" card.

Why do I say this? We have (and still have) that "Disney Card". We consider it to be inferior, as it plays with "points". "Points" that WDW will not honor, until you have a balance exceeding the "points" on your room bill. Redemption of "points" is difficult, and generally argued over. By June, we will CANCEL this joke card. We already have the SUPERIOR Chase "Freedom Unlimited" card.

The "Disney" card results in few to zero benefits. Disney itself creates "hoops" for renewal of magic "points". Just say no :).

Chase "Freedom Unlimited" card just gives you 1.5% cash back - no hoops, no arguments, no problems.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

I addition you have to load the credits on another card that will expire at the end of the year.

The Chase Freedom card only pays 1% but it has a quarterly rolling 5% bonus for some stores.

If you have Amazon Prime, look at their Rewards Visa Signature Card
- No Annual Fee
- 5% back on Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market
- 2% back on restaurants, gas stations and drug stores
- 1% back on all other purchases

And I believe you get a $70.00 Amazon gift card upon approval

If you know anyone with a Disney Visa, you can often get a referral for a $200 gift card if you get the basic card without the annual fee.

I'm a little confused by a previous post talking about how it's difficult to redeem "points" or the part about a room balance? Once you have the rewards card, you can go online and transfer your points to it once you have at least $10 worth (in comparison to my cash back card which allows redemption every $25). I have used my rewards card like a gift card to make payments on a room, toward an annual pass upgrade, and to buy food or other things in the parks, all without trouble.

The points in the account do not expire for 5 years, and once they are moved to a redemption card, they no longer expire at all. That was a fairly recent change, within the last couple of years I think!

Anyway, I've always heard good things about the Chase Freedom card. :)

If you travel a lot, consider the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card. It pays 3% for travel and dining. 1% for everything else. But if you redeem for travel, you get 4.5% for travel and 1.5% for everything else. You get a free Global Entry card, and $500 signing bonus. (Worth $750 if you redeem for travel).
There is a $450 annual fee, which is offset by an annual $300 travel credit, so the net annual fee is $150.

So if you travel a lot, the Chase SAPPHIRE reserve is the better card. If you don’t travel, the Chase Freedom Unlimited is the way to go.

While you are at Disney, you can charge everything on your Magic Band to your room account. This will code to Chase as travel. So you will get back 4.5% on your Disney merchandise, meals, etc. when staying on points. Also your room charges if you are not staying on points.

I can gIve you a link to the Chase Card if you need it.

Another option is the Citi Double Cash card which gives you 2% cash back on everything with no annual fee.

My Costco Visa gives me 4% back on gas and 3% back on restaurants and certain travel costs (plus 2% back at Costco) with no annual fee.

I still have a Disney Visa but the benefits really aren't that good...I rarely use it any more...

Love this card. I believe our DVC annual dues and direct purchases were also coded as travel which gave us a good amount of points that we'll be using for our flights to Disney.

Good to know, we don't really use it much any more. DW was offered a USAA Visa no fee card with a 2.5% back on everything.

I stopped using the Disney Visa, too. (Just on general principle, I will NOT pay an annual fee for a credit card so the 2% back Disney card was never an option).

The DISNEY VISA charges foreign transaction fees, so when we went to Europe, I got another card that doesn't. Once we returned, I decided to keep using the new one. Rewards are so much better. I didn't cancel the Disney Visa, but I don't plan to use it again unless there is some special incentive that I can't refuse, LOL.

Anyway, I've always heard good things about the Chase Freedom card. :)

Let me explain.....

About 2 years ago, WDW Hotels stopped the practice of allowing one to "pre pay" their Bill with what they considered to be "Gift Cards".
They had a valid reason - they had no way to refund an OVERPAYMENT. This applied to those "points" on a Chase Disney Rewards card....

In essence - One is using a REAL CC, or something with "Points, Tokens, Credits". And the "Rewards" of a Chase Disney Rewards card are just this. It's not the "real" CC.

So - current practice.....

1) Have a MB that allows charges to your MB.
2) Use this, until your magic "Rewards Points" are LOWER than your current MB Bill. Think between 1-4 days.
3) Go to FRONT DESK - present "Chase Disney Rewards card" - and ask them to DRAIN it, on current bill.

You CAN NOT prepay these stinking "Reward Points" anymore.... this ended a good 2 years ago. To Disney's credit? They had a legitimate issue with the ability to "pay back" overpayments. Even with their OWN BRANDED CARD.

So - why go through these hoops? MANY standard, real, CCs just give one CASH BACK. No "tokens, points, credits". No hoops. No "Peggy" :).

I see! Thanks for the extra details, I see the trouble now. :) I’ve never used gift cards to pay down MB room charges so I never ran into that myself, but that makes sense.
