We (me, DH, DD,DS,nana&PopPop) are going to Disney in June. Our first trip with the kids - and our first trip since Disney photographers started roaming. I don't know if this is the right thread - but can someone explain the process to me.

Are photographers normally at the Kodak picture spots - or do I have to make an appointment? I would love a family picture taken at the Castle.

So what is the deal with the card. Do you get one and each time after you have your picture taken do you give them the number?

Some say buy pictures as you go, some say wait until home - some say CD. Can anyone give me the pros and cons to all.

Thanks I just want to understand the process before I am in it.

PS
By the way - I am a huge picture person, and scrapbook addict too. I have a Cannon Powershot 610. I take tons of pictures. Candid, landscapes, sunsets etc. So I will have tons of my own pictures, but would love someone reliable to take some with me in them too. : )

I hope this helps...

I would love a family picture taken at the Castle - Not so much at the Kodak picture spots, but definitely on Main St to have a pic of the castle in the background. In my experience, I have not seen them so much wandering the park - for instance near the little Kodak Picture Spot signs, but I notice them most where there are characters and at "trademark" locations in the parks...At MGM for instance they on Hollywood Blvd for photos in front of the hat, at EPCOT at the entrance to get SE in the background, and on Friday they were near the walkway to WS, in front of a Bambi and Thumper topiary. Animal Kingdom they are as you enter into the interior of the park where you can see the Tree of Life in the background. I am sure they are many places that I don't notice them - so maybe others can share their sightings.
So what is the deal with the card. Do you get one and each time after you have your picture taken do you give them the number? You are give a card, like a credit card that you can use throughout your trip - I am local and I have once card that I keep with my AP, and if an opportunity arises to have a photo taken by them, I give them the card, they swipe it and give it back to you when they are done. You then register at www.disneyphotopass.com, and enter the card number(s) to view your photos and purchase if you want.

Some say buy pictures as you go, some say wait until home - some say CD. Can anyone give me the pros and cons to all. I suppose you could by the pictures before you go home from vacation, I have never done that, but you can order them on line once you get home. You can also purchase a CD for $99 with all the pictures taken on your card (and I believe you can have them add borders etc), and then you have the "rights" to those photos and can have copies made of them as you wish (Wal-Mart, etc) I have read some folks having problems with this.

I take my own photos whenever the Disney photographer does, but on occasion I have ordered some that I thought were special or wanted to add borders etc. As I am local, I don't accumulate enough photos by the DIsney photographer to make a CD worthwhile, as the photos are only available on line for about 30 (recently I have had some available for 60) days.

The Kodak spots aren't really a big deal, it just might have an ok background. I wouldn't suggest them really. Finding your own picture spots provides more original pictures and better angles.
