My wife loves to see and for our last trip made my DD a beautiful Snow White dress. This time we have 2 daughters and its time for new costumes!!! Anyone know where the best spots to get patterns are. My wife is very picky and wants them to look authentic! Thanks!!!

Simplicity has the official Disney pattern license. I just bought my DD the Merida costume pattern today. It's brand new for this Halloween, and looks great. They also have a new fairy costume pattern that has a very full tulle skirt, kind of like a tutu. There is another style of fairy pattern too, which they've had for a few years, and a Rapunzel pattern as well. The only other official princess dress pattern they have is the Cinderella/Snow White combination pattern your wife probably used the last time.

I ended up search ebay and etsy for vintage patterns for a princess aurora pattern for my DD, since they don't have an officially licensed one any more.

The Simplicity patterns are available at pretty much every fabric store, and they go on sale for $1 or 99 cents every few weeks!

McCalls and Simplicity also have several knock-off patterns if you're looking for other characters like Alice and Tiana. They're not exact, but they're pretty dang close.

Happy sewing!

(And I'm sure that the fabric stores in Canada have the simplicity patterns. If not, you can order them at simplicity.com, but they're more expensive that way.)

The main one we are looking for is Jasmine and also Belle. Thanks for the reply, it was appreciated!

Both jasmine and belle used to have symplicity patterns. That was many moons ago (made them for DD 12 years ago!!). Maybe try eBay? I wish I still had my patterns to give you. Good luck.

My MIL made DD a Belle dress from a Simplicity Pattern, this is the a pic from 2010, she made the same one again for our 2011 trip in a different size, though the pattern was the same. I'll see if she has the pattern number when I see her later today.

That's the pattern I used too. It's super easy and looks great. Also, we had a hidden Mickey (the buttons on sets of three...one large/two small).

My DD8 made her Jasmine costume last year. We used Simplicity pattern 3626 which is not an official Disney one but with the right fabrics was a GREAT mimic. There was no question who she was supposed to be. We did pair it with an official Jasmine crown.

DD4 is obsessed with Jasmine's pet tiger Rajah, so we had to make DD2 be Abu too (though both of their costumes were purchased, not made..except for Abu's hat and vest)

I bought the Jasmine one (it was Jasmine and Ariel) off eBay last year (pattern 9919), as well as the vintage Aurora/Belle/Tink one (which is 5835). I'll be honest that the Belle costume on 5835 is pretty lame. I'd look for 9902 instead, as that one looks great. And the Ariel costume was okay. I think with the right fabrics and some nice trim to jazz it up, the Jasmine one could be could be pretty great.

Also try etsy. I have found vintage patterns there, as well.

And Butterick 4320 is a pretty decent generic Belle.

That's it - 9902, I just got back in from asking MIL. It has gloves included in the pattern, though we never did that!
