Disney Parks Price Increases-What is your breaking point?

If I'm being completely honest, if I had kids of my own I would probably stop going but it's doable for me for now as a childfree adult. I don't think I could stomach the prices if I had to include multiple children tbh

I do feel like if Disney is going to up prices, they need to increase the quality of the experience. The current state of Tiana's Bayou Adventure in MK for example is genuinely embarrassing. It needs to close for a refurb and that's very sad given how new it is.

We bought $974 annual passes earlier this year. We intend to keep going no matter what. It is crowds that would keep us away. Not higher prices. The restaurants prices at Disney are cheaper than eating out in Seattle.

We haven't been to Disneyland in 6 years. We used to go every two years, which among our group of friends got us labeled Disney Fanatics. On the DIS, where some go almost monthly, we are rookies. We are at the point of our lives that the cost.....since it is just two of us......really isn't a factor. Yes, it is crazy expensive, but the fire in our belly to go more often just isn't there.
Only been to DisneyWorld once, that was 7 years ago. See no reason to go back. That Disney is not the Disney I grew up with.

Okay, I thought the SAME THING!! I was so grossed out when we rode it in June.

Outside party aka not Disney owned. It's the only way I could think of paying for "an app".

My "breaking point" was mostly just too much of a good thing -- aka boredom. When we were younger we used to joke that when we set the cruise control on our van it automatically took us to Disneyland (6 hr drive.)

Also DH is disabled so we're the dreaded scooter people but no longer qualify for a DAS since Disney changed their rules.

Our son-in-law is military so when we've gone to WDW with DD and family we've stayed at Shades of Green (military hotel) but the wait for the bus to return to the hotel takes up to an hour because so many vets use scooters and the bus capacity is limited. At the end of a long day, waiting in one more long line just isn't fun.

At what point will you stop going to the parks?

My children are grown, so it is just the two of us we have to pay for now. It is still doable. But I don't think I could afford to go if we had to pay for an entire family to go Disney World.

I reached the breaking point a few years ago.

Where do you get $350? $400 less $150 for the ticket is $250. They mentioned parking, then there's food and souvenirs. We recently went during then F&W festival and although we didn't pay for parking, a $400 total sounds pretty reasonable. As far as souvenirs, we DO have grandchildren to buy for!

Since pricing is dynamic. A one day ticket could be much higher than 150.00 day. I was considering a day at Epcot in January, but the ticket price for a Sunday was 178.00. I'm haven't looked at prices since the increase, but I stopped considering it already.

I think breaking point is going to be based on someone's normal travel patterns to Disney

If you go several times a year or once a year maybe once every other year you're going to fit in more with the question of what is your breaking point. If you either have only gone a handful of times (IF that) in your lifetime or only go every several years breaking point may take on a different definition. For that matter it's a bit hard to have people relate to the question if they stopped going 20 years ago when the parks were not anywhere near the same in how they operate.

But in the case of the infrequent visitor it can make you look at what you may be getting for that Disney trip compared to your other trips and decide it's not worth planning a new trip anytime soon if ever again.

This last price hike was mine. I'm not saying I'm never going again I know that would be a lie. But I'm single and on the low end of middle class. I would not do a lot of things like go out to eat and movies through the year to make a trip or two a year and I just can't keep justifying it. I refuse to live off of ramen noodles to go to Disney lol. Unless they have a killer deal, I am now not planning to do the trip in 2026 I was going to do.

My breaking point was our last trip, 2014. That was right after magic bands came into being and I hated it. Also, the food had gone downhill, the resorts were losing theming, and the whole thing was becoming a shell of itself. Nothing I've read since the pandemic about apps, price increases, maintenance declines, cleanliness, etc. makes me want to go back. I might still consider a cruise, but the parks are pretty much done for me.

I still plan on visiting the parks (DVC with AP) as much as I do now no matter the cost…but I have to admit - the loss of the MB discount is going to really put a brake to my ‘other’ Disney spending…souvenirs, snacks and other extras. Not because I can’t afford it - just that it’s getting ridiculous IMHO.

They got rid of the "pre-trip" discount, but DVC merchandise discount should still work if you see a new MB you like on site

I know - with my AP/DVC discount - I can still save 20% - it’s just that I really like having my name engraved inside. I don’t know what it is about this particular loss - but it just irritates me no end!
