Disney packages question

This is a strange question. Does Disney Travel Company do packages for both Disney World and Disneyland?

We got this harebrained idea the other night that we might want to just cancel our WDW reservations and drive to Anaheim instead.

Would that mean cancelling and waiting for a refund from WTC and then booking with some other entity for Disneyland or....could WTC cancel my WDW reservations and rebook for Disneyland all in one call?

Cancelling and rebooking from one hotel to the other at Disney World usually means you get a refund and rebook Wich can be done in one call, but i've never been able to just transfer what I've paid to the new one. Always pay a new deposit and wait for the refund.

So I would guess that it would be the same thing in your case.

You can always modify a WDW package or room-only reservation, including switching resorts, without canceling and re-booking. What you can't do is switch a room-only to a package or a package to a room-only without canceling.

Yeah. I know that to be true when going from Disney World to Disney World reservations. But I see no way to make a modification or change reservations to Disneyland hotel and tickets from Disney World hotel and tickets. I will call. I suspect it will be a cancel and start over thing. Bah. . I was hoping they had an option for someone being weird and wanting to suddenly change coasts at the last minute. Like I could just slide all the money paid for one trip on over to another if it's the same entity doing the reservations. I am afraid to cancel altogether at this point in case I can't get the second round of reservations all worked out. And I need some of that money back too. I have a budget so I can't afford to have a 7 day trip paid off for WDW waiting for a refund and drop another $4000 for Disneyland. That's too much of my money floating around in Disney space. I don't know how long refunds take.
I was kind of hoping someone had done this before and could tell me.

I've actually had a rep change a room only to a package for me without us having to do the refund/re-deposit thing. Can't say that's the norm, as she sounded a bit unsure about doing it, but she did it.

I usually pay with a debit card, and when I do cancel, my money is back on the debit card within a few days. This is despite the spiel they always give about how "it might take two billing cycles" to show up in your account. The latter might be more the case for credit cards, but I wouldn't know.

You will have to cancel and rebook. Disney reservations handle both Land and World, but they are treated as separate entities. We did this a couple of years ago for our Christmas trip, decided to go with DL over WDW. My parents canceled, waited a few days for the money to go back onto their debit card (bank) then called and rebooked Disneyland. We did this months in advance, though. You definitely won't be able to handle this yourself online, you will need to call and find out what it is they can do for you.
