Disney owe me over $1100

Are you sure your son is being honest with you that he gave them his credit card, and that his card had enough funds available to cover the charges? If your son was going to cover his own, why did you give your card in the first place? I have a suspicion that this may be more the fault of the son than the cruise line, since they never charged your son's card.

Wow my son is a member if this board I sure hope he doesn't read this. I'm not even going to dignify it with an answer.

That's wasn't nice, I don't see how it is productive or kind insinuating her son was acting dishonest or sneaky towards his parents. It was a mix up, it sucks. Poopy way to end the cruise but if I was waiting on a $1000. Refund on my Credit card, I'd ask innocently enough too.. Hey does anyone know how long this takes?....

Thank you for this. A much kinder reply.
Some folks seem to have had similar incidents and it looks like from recent replies that it can take up to eight weeks by the sound of things, so I guess I will just have to be more patient, although I think that DCL should be able to act faster to remedy things when they go wrong.

All I'm saying is at this point, Disney is not the one who owes you $1000. You gave them your card and told them to charge to it. After they had charged what you agreed to, you went back to have it charged to someone else. You authorized the original charges. Disney has no responsibility to refund your money
This is now between you and your son.

They don't charge a CC until a certain point is reached. My son went to Guest Services with his CC before that point had been reached. Twice in fact. GS agreed to process those charges onto his card not mine. Then didn't. DCL have also agreed in an email to my son that it was their error, and have apologised. They have agreed to re-process the charges to the correct CC. It's just that they are taking what I considered to be a very long time doing it. That's the point of my post. However, I now see from others who have experienced similar problems that this seems to be the norm.

So Disney agree that the matter is between DCL and my son not between me and my son. Yes my son could now transfer the funds to me, but being in totally different countries this is expensive in transfer fees and processing charges, which is what we are trying to avoid. Also as DCL have agreed to refund the amount it would now make it even more complicated for my son to pay me, because we could then find that he transfers the money just as DCL refund it, making a complicated situation even more complicated.

I do hope you get this worked out with DCL, but you might have a hard time disputing the charges with your CC company. Your card was down for both cabins and you signed the form agreeing to accept all charges.

I would have your son call DCL Guest Communications and speak to a supervisor if necessary to hopefully get this fixed. Take names every step of the way.

I know a few people have mentioned disputing the charge(s), but have you tried to call your credit card company explaining the situation? I have not personally been in this situation with DCL, but I had an issue in the past that my card company was WONDERFUL in helping me correct. It took a few weeks to work out all of the details, but I was finally charged for the correct amount in the end. I believe you said that you paid the balance to your credit card company already? I don't know how that affects things, but it might not hurt to call and ask.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. What a bad way to end what I'm hoping was otherwise a great vacation. I know how particular I am about my credit/finances, and $1100 is A LOT of money. GOOD LUCK!

We have had multiple times where the charges back to our Disney resort accounts were inaccurate and I would imagine it's the same with DCL. You have to
fill in the credit card part in order to check in online and it does not give you options for linking different cards to different travelers in the same cabin/room.
The only way to check in early is to accept the charges for all in your room/cabin and sort it out at Guest Services later. Even after doing that we've had several mistakes made with family or friends in the same DVC villa. There have been several instances in threads here that have taught us to get a printout of our charges a few times a cruise/DVC stay and always the day before the last day. We've caught several mistakes. OP, I think you've done a good thing educating others what can happen - sorry it's such a large sum of money. I can't imagine they have that many refunds to process and it's really not a travel industry norm to take that long.

The online check-in for DCL actually does give you options for linking different cards to different travelers in the same cabin. I've split a cabin with a friend several times and each time we do our own online check-in and when you go to billing to link a card to your passenger account, there are checkboxes asking if you're going to be responsible for anyone else's charges in the travelling party. If you don't check off anyone else's name, it won't link to your card. Don't get me wrong, there have been a couple of times when there have been errors like posting a charge to the other person's account. But we have been able to link our own KTTW to our own ccards.

Now, in order to complete online check-in, I think something has to be filled in for all passengers. My friend and I just gave each other a chance to do our part of the online check-in and then one of us went back to mark it complete.

Thank you to all the responses and suggestions. Ours was a rather unique situation in that I always pay all the charges for myself in one stateroom and my son and daughter in law in another. It is my treat. However, this last cruise I still intended to do that, but at the last minute my daughter in law's mum decided to join us, who was paying for herself. To make matters even stranger my son paid for her cruise and flights on his cc and she paid him back, but made a mistake and paid him $1000 too much. To rectify this she just asked my son to pay all her onboard charges. It is this that my son tried to pay by giving DCL guest services his CC details, but they mucked up.
I really have no idea why this was what was decided, because I was not party to this decision, and it would have worked out just fine had DCL actually debited my son's CC as they said that they would rather than sticking all the charges onto mine. It also wouldn't have mattered had we all lived in the same country, but the good news is that today I got my refund from DCL yay!
Also we did all have an amazing cruise, so this hasn't tarnished the memory in any way. I am grateful though to everyone here who told me of their own experiences, because from this I understood that I would be refunded eventually but I needed to have more patience as this could take a lot longer than I originally anticipated.
