Honestly, they had to do something. We had quit doing emh's just because the crowds were so bad, just from all the resorts. This way at least, it will be fewer guests and maybe we can go back to doing them. I do think moderates and values should get something- those prices, for what those resorts are- are way out of line with off site hotels. But they just have too many resorts with too many people watering down the value of perks applied to all resorts.
Agreed. We had stopped going to EMH b/c going during regular hours with FP was much more efficient.

I was just thinking this. One the one hand, it’s kind of nice to have an extra benefit when you’re spending that much money, but on the other hand, it’s super unfair to the people who can’t afford to spend that much, and I hope it isn’t too many nights that value, moderate, and offsite guests are blocked out from later evening hours.

I don't understand this way of thinking that it's unfair to people who can't afford x, y or z. If you use that logic, it's unfair that they offer anything that everyone can't afford. It's a business and you're buying a product. The more you pay, the more you get.

Agreed and same here - over the past several years (pre-covid), evening EMH was the park to avoid. This perk because it seems like a much more limited version of EMH with no value/moderate-staying guests, but perhaps more importantly, seemingly no partner resorts. I love this perk though because I am now DVC so most future stays will be deluxe... Though our first stay impacted will be this November where we are staying cash at Coronado, so...

The issue is that so many people were clamoring to go on vacation they accepted all the hoops they had to jump through and Disney realized they could do/give less and charge more. I see a change coming next year, maybe around fall, when people have been out for a bit and realize they aren't happy with what their receiving for their premium $$$.

Kinda like a housing bubble, I'm hoping there Disney price bubble burst.

This is why I’m not booking for next fall yet. I want to see what goes on first. What perks are offered and so much more. But I might book a universal room in the meantime.

Ok, so there is now a big plus to staying at deluxe vs value. But what’s the main perk for staying value vs off site? There are many more value customers than deluxe customers. Reducing the amount of EMH hours for value customers isn’t going to keep them coming back.

I’m really thinking I should cancel my AOA suite reservation and stay off site instead

I wonder how many people will reschedule their trip to after Oct 1st since none of the goodies are coming before then?

It does answer the question though of if Disney would consider limiting perks based on the level of resort you stay at and the answer is obviously yes.

I have no problems with them making perks resort level specific. It's always puzzled me why someone paying$100 a night (pre covid prices) would get the same perks as someone paying $800 a night.

We usually stay at a Deluxe, more often a DVC resort, but not this time 1) Availability but more importantly 2) There's just not much benefit to being on site so I picked the cheapest that would fit our needs. Should they add some perks that's resort specific before our trip that I really want (shhhhhh....FP+) I'd change in a heartbeat.
Because the amenities at a deluxe hotel *are* the “perks” of the higher price- location, transportation, grounds, pools, etc. We always stay at deluxe for those perks, but believe that these extra hours should be open to all on-site guests.

So just because pools, grounds, etc are perks means that extra hours has to be restricted from being called a perk? If they are available to everyone then they aren’t extra hours anymore, they are just “hours”, which everyday ticket holders are already granted.

Not everyone….I said to on-site guests.:) And they can still be called a perk!

Disney is trying to make up for being closed for so long - if adding some evening EMHs to deluxe stays encourages some people scheduled to stay in a moderate to move up to a deluxe instead, it’s probably worthwhile for them. And they are still offering all resort guess the morning EMHs so all guests have an opportunity to enjoy some extra time. As of right now we don’t even know how much extra time will be given in the evenings.

I don’t stay deluxe, and of course I like any perks I can get, but I think this makes logical business sense for them to try to incentivize staying deluxe while still being able to say they are giving all guests a perk of EMHs every single day.

Someone remind me if we know the amount of time that early entry covers. 1hr?
