I only trust bus drivers!
When I was there last March someone "allegedly" committed suicide by jumping from the Contemporary, which resulted in the shutting down of the monorail.
We took the boat from WL since we just finished Hoopdy Doo (which was awesome!) and it was the pilot of the boat who was telling passengers about it since he needed to tell everyone to not to try and take the monorail...he was definitely shaken up about it...so I also trust boat captains!

The Contemporary has unfortunately been the site of many suicides and attempts. And yes, last March was one of them.

Once I have a Lapu Lapu in my hand I will have a harder time being bummed 🤣
If you can hold that thing in one hand (singular), you are truly a girl that can "handle" her liquor! Congrats! pirate: My wife loves the Lapu Lapu and we stop there on a monorail crawl anytime we eat around the 7 seas lagoon. Takes her two hands and about 4 Longboard Lagers for me before she is done.

Truthfully, “hands” is probably more appropriate and that might be there first time in my life someone has accused me of handling my alcohol well :rolleyes1 My DH will also get through multiple beers before I am done, but I am forever reminding him I’m a cheap date (except for the whole annual Disney trip thing!)

Disney Cruise Line has just postponed first test cruise

“We are delaying our simulation cruise due to a small number of inconsistent COVID-19 test results, which are considered positive by the CDC,” a Disney representative said in a statement. “The rigorous health and safety protocols we have in place helped us identify the situation, though the test results were ultimately negative.”

Well, that's certainly confusing. And not particularly great news although another cruise line had to do the same thing recently. We have a spring cruise planned but not sure at all we're going to keep it if they're even sailing by then.

hoping it’s just a very short postponement. Maybe they want better clarity around tests? I can see Disney wanting to avoid making public positive tests that in reality turn out to be negative.

Email from Disney Re: Poly Monorail reopening:

"Aloha! We are delighted you have chosen to stay with us at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.

In an effort to continually enhance the Guest experience here at the Walt Disney World® Resort, we often refresh our offerings and atmosphere. In preparation for your upcoming stay, we would like to make you aware of renovations that will be taking place during your visit. As part of these renovations, monorail service will remain temporarily suspended. During this time, direct bus transportation will be provided to all four Theme Parks and watercraft transportation will be available to Magic Kingdom® Park. If you prefer to walk, the pathway to access the monorail and ferryboats at the Transportation and Ticket Center will also remain open."

Our stay begins August 22nd.

Wow. Thank goodness we are staying GF and not Poly (Aug 24-21). I love the monorail (and dislike the TTC) so much that this would cause me to switch resorts.

Does this make the resort loop any less crowded..? 😬

I guess they have some kinks to work out with their health and safety measures. We have a summer cruise booked (2022) I'm hopeful things will all be worked out by then.

I read elsewhere that Tikiman said the monorail <strike>won’t be</strike> might not be back at the Poly until September.
