Yea they did say it'll be staying for a while but they also said we would have masks up to 2022 and look how that went. I highly doubt park reservations are going to be gone anytime soon but at this point nothing will surprise me.
They did add the caveat that vaccinations could very likely change the mask timelines though (which it did), so there was that.

Definitely feels like it with how they got uncovered and tested out last week! Hopefully it’s right!

I personally haven’t missed FP+ during my trips during the capacity limitations but it will be good to have back!
I’d really love to know what to expect with FP so we can plan our fall trip better.

hope it’s this week (please please please)

Seconded. I think the 2021 date is referencing when TRON was SUPPOSED to open for the 50th. I would be shocked if the RR is coming back before that's done.

Yeah unless they operate 3/4 of the track when they reopen it’s going to be a while since they have to tunnel beneath TRON.

Does anyone have an idea when the railroad might reopen? I did a quick google search, but you guys are far more expert than what I was finding ("2021"). I miss the train!
It probably won't open until Tron construction is completed.

Yeah, the construction delays on Tron really hurt on this. It's a shame since the railroad is of such historical significance to WDW and Disney himself, and is looking like it will likely not be running in time for the 50th.

Wow, I did not closely follow the Tron/Railroad/Speedway construction and didn't realize the extent of the changes for the railroad.

Here's some pictures I dug up for others trying to grasp all the visual changes:
