Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

Darn, I was hoping I'd get another chance to ride the Riverboat in January.

It’s not closing yet, just an extension for Disney to submit additionally requested information from the SFWMD for approval of their permits. Nothing is imminent until those get approved. Disney still has yet to announce the last sailing days for the Liberty Belle Riverboat

Disney given one month extension on Rivers of America demolition permit:

I'm hoping that permit will still end up failing to go through. What do you guys think?

I think the folks that are pushing this plan don't have the first clue about DIS company history or what Walt's vision for the parks were.

Furthermore, the fact that D'Aramo didn't breathe a word of the plan at the 8/24 D23 event shows they were too scared to tell it in front of the crowd. They knew they would have been booed off the stage.

We had updated TVs in OKW this past January. It was really cool. In addition to shows we could watch a recording of the Happily Ever After fireworks show.

We're at Boardwalk now and no dice, though 🥲 It didn't even have our names up on the screen when we arrived
I'm at Pop and literally just finished watching Happily Ever After on the TV because I was too tired to walk all the way through epcot and ride 2 monorail.

I'm glad I didn't put that effort in. Not my fav fireworks.

Wow, I'm surprised about Boardwalk because they just had a refurbishment.

Still hoping for Iger to get the boot next year instead of 2026, so the next CEO (still hoping for either Alan Bergman or a film executive from another studio, as they might have a vision that's a combo of both Walt Disney and Michael Eisner) can scrap these plans to get rid of RoA/TSI at MK.

Not me. I want Iger to stick around for as long as possible. Devil you know and all that. His replacement could end up being worse than Chapek, there's no way of knowing at this point. At least i feel like I know what to expect from Iger.

I didn't realize that everyone doesn't just watch Mickey shorts the entire time.

I have a rule when at WDW that I'm only watching the channels that shows Mickey cartoons or other Disney stuff - no real-world intrusions! I did also allow Stacey and the "Must-Do Must-Do's" but that has been sadly retired.

Our last trip was on election day and I tried really hard...then started getting texts from friends who I specifically told to leave me alone... picture me waking up at 3am in my Caribbean Beach hotel room...1st park day a few hours away....trying in vain to leave the real world behind a few days. Needed some coffee that day that's for sure.
