Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

As much as I hate the LLPP cash grab, there’s a really strong case to be made for booking value resorts and getting LLPP over deluxe resorts now. 30 minutes early entry, who cares? Sleep in late and use LLPP.

Hmm I guess your feelings toward this news depends on how much you like roller coasters. For me this news is so exciting. I didn't even think about the possibility of the muppets taking over rock n roller coaster but it sounds like such a perfect idea.

To be clear, I am not necessarily against that part. I do love the Muppets after all. I just really hate that they will rip out a functional area of the park and completely ignore a dead area - Star Wars Launch Bay. Monstropolis should go there. Unless they announce something to go there as well, then I still call this a loss.

I don't understand why MuppetVision needs to close. The artwork clearly shows the current theater totally untouched by the expansion.

Okay, actually, I read it again, and it looks like the coaster is NOT taking over the MuppetVision theater, but that there will be a Monster's Inc. show in that theater to compliment the new coster. That's interesting and not something I had envisioned. At least there will be two attractions. I wonder if it will be like Laugh Floor. If so, what of Laugh Floor at MK? The plot thickens.

While I understand people being sad about losing an attraction they personally love, I'll never understand people's surprise that an attraction that doesn't really pull people in anymore is being closed.

At some point in the future, Mickey and Minnie will be relative unknowns to children. I’d guess they are likely already on a steep popularity decline based on kids in my children’s age group, replaced by Elsa and the new crew. Do you get rid of them at that point, or do realize that nostalgia and history isn’t worthless?

Yeah the concept art as currently drawn shows the theater staying with the coaster in the back. So would at least be a potential net gain for the park although whatever loss time for MuppetVision is still sad.

Nostalgia and history isn't going to keep a business from wanting to make the best use of their property to attracts guests. My 3 year old is obsessed with Mickey. Mickey is everywhere and the mickey mouse clubhouse show is getting revived. Mickey isn't going anywhere.

Yeah, Mickey is still pretty popular in general - he's not at risk.

Oh I agree all 3 year olds love Mickey. Talk to me when they’re 9.

I understand the business point of view, but as a consumer, know what’s better than a Monsters land? A separate Muppets and Monsters land.

DCA still has a theater unused. Wondering if they'll restore the film to better quality and move it there.

That would make the most sense.

I would put MuppetVision (or upgraded Muppet Show) in Sunset Showcase, which creates a Muppet Land off in the Rock'n Rollercoaster Area. The Launch Bay area does have a theater - just do SOMETHING with it!
