Disney builds castle in Saudi Arabia

1731450094930.png

From the article:
...
Disney's theme parks are famous for their extravagance. They are home to man-made mountains, rides populated with robotic characters and fireworks displays at the end of every day. So when Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority offered the media giant a spot on the roster of its capital city's annual Riyadh Season last year it didn't do it by halves.

Instead of setting up a booth at the festival, Disney built a 20,000 square meter mini theme park featuring five lands promoting some of its most popular movies. Saying it was big doesn't do it justice - the complex was so sprawling that it had its own map.

It was the first time that Disney had built a complex on this scale and it was also a return to a category that Disney had largely avoided for nearly a decade.

Called Disney: The Castle, the complex was located just six miles outside central Riyadh making it a prime example of Location Based Entertainment (LBE). In simple terms, LBE involves operators bringing their venues to residents by building them in densely-populated urban areas rather than forcing residents to travel to them out of town as is usually the case.
...
Balich Wonder Studio co-founder and group executive president Gianmaria Serra described Disney: The Castle as setting "a new benchmark for live music events across the world" and added that developing it wasn't a walk in the park.

“It was an incredible challenge to bring this important IP to life with different immersive installations, concerts, and music," he said in an interview with industry website Blooloop earlier this year. The pavilions were designed as temporary demountable structures so they can be moved to different locations around the world following their debut in Saudi Arabia. “Now we’re looking to bring it back to the country and tour it worldwide,” added Serra. That really would be a happy ending.

Thank you for putting that so eloquently...I agree if they want their news stories posted here, they are free to post them. I really enjoy posting news stories here and have seen a few stories today (from unofficial Disney sites) that I would normally post but now I don't know if I'm breaking some new rules....
There are no new rules to worry about – please feel free to post away. :) We are an unofficial Disney site as well.

Potential Hurricane Sara Could Impact Walt Disney World Area Next Week
http://www.wdwmagic.com/other/sever...d-impact-walt-disney-world-area-next-week.htm

According to the National Hurricane Center's Tropical Weather Outlook, a broad area of low pressure over the central Caribbean, labeled as AL99, is likely to become a tropical depression soon. Environmental conditions are favorable for further development, and the system has a 90% chance of strengthening over the next couple of days. The storm, which would be named Sara, is expected to move slowly into the western Caribbean and turn northwest by early next week. Heavy rains are already forecasted for Jamaica, and an Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate the system today.

If the storm continues along its projected path, it could reach Central Florida by mid-next week, potentially bringing heavy rain, wind, and possible park closures.

For those planning to visit Walt Disney World or other parts of Florida, it's a good idea to keep a close watch on official weather updates over the coming days. As always, Disney will adjust its operations as needed, based on safety conditions, which could include ride closures, event cancellations, or changes in park hours.

We’ll continue to provide updates as more information becomes available about the storm's track and any expected impacts.

Disney Updates EPCOT's Soarin' with World Celebration Ending and Other Improvements

EPCOT's hugely popular Soarin' Around the World attraction has received a notable update today, which introduces a new ending scene showcasing the recently opened World Celebration, replacing the original Future World finale.

The new ending now gives riders a sweeping aerial view of World Celebration Gardens, highlighting the central in-ground lighting effects of the EPCOT logo and the nighttime glow of Spaceship Earth with fireworks nearby.

In addition to the finale, fans have noticed that the once-notorious sloping Eiffel Tower effect has been improved. Previously, the iconic landmark often appeared bent or distorted depending on where you sat in the theater. Riders are now reporting a much more natural and upright view of the Eiffel Tower due to a wider reframing of the shot, which enhances the immersive experience of the Paris segment.
