Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

It looks like the boardwalk is still showing in the concept art that fades behind the mountains, I wonder if they'll keep some water along the Frontierland path to separate the areas a bit.

Yeah, it looks like there is some water still on that side, probably up to about where the bridge over Tiana's is.

You are not alone.

I'll miss the Liberty Belle, because that's something I actually did. But I can't tell you the last time I went to TSI.
It's been at least a decade since I went to TSI. Probably longer, because I am pretty sure the kids were not teenagers when we went, and they are currently 23 and 25.

I do make a point of riding the Liberty Belle, but I'm the only one in my family that does.

It's always sad when something classic goes away. But let's face it, the Liberty Belle and TSI were not attracting enough guests. It was a ton of space being used by something guests weren't even doing. In the long run I'd rather have more attractions that eat up guests and spread people around the park more.

Hard to predict everything based on the fuzzy pics they've shown so far, BUT I think they'll be making an effort to 'hide' the cars ride from Frontierland. Looking at the concept art, they appear to be building a fairly high wall of 'mountain' along Frontierland's edge, which presumably will block any view of the ride cars - it will look like a Frontier town at the edge of mountains and trees...as far as I can see so far. The walkway to Villains land runs beside Haunted Mansion, and there too it looks like some mountain facade will block some or all of the Cars track from view. I'm hopeful that they'll take the theming seriously enough to build the lands with some amount of blocking to minimize distracting views from one land to another. Similar to how they've mostly separated Toy Story Land from Galaxy's Edge from the rest of DHS.
I was just thinking why is it always so cloudy during the artistic concepts?!

I was just going to write that losing the boardwalk path would be a real shame. I use that path 5 times more than the main walkway whenever I'm there.

Who....even asked for Monsters Inc Land? What is happening?

It’s a complete concept that Jim Hill described in 2008. I think pics were accidentally released and then removed by Disney.

Um....wow people in the stream I'm watching booed the Cars area in Frontierland.

No one near me booed. People commented that it seemed weird.

I just hope the 2nd ride isn’t Mater’s truck pull.

Monster truck jam. A tie-in with the newly announced with the Rock.

It will be fascinating to see where Avatar and particularly Coco goes. I still think Avatar is most likely in Hollywoodland. There's so much wasted space there and this ties into the new eastern gateway to expand the park north into the current bus loop. Maybe they were vague because the eastern gateway project has to happen first. It's not exactly exciting to announce a new parking garage at D23, so maybe why the ambiguity.

Coco...I have no idea where that will go. I don't see any expansion room within the current footprint without expanding across DL Drive. Is there an expansion pad in Pixar Pier?

Overall, pretty exciting. Still no Tomorrowland fix.
I hate to be pessimistic, but wake me up in 3 years when they've not only broken ground but actually gone vertical. Being in active development is not the same thing as active construction. Their recent track record is not great with following through on announcements.

What's funny is the Monsters Inc. Door Coaster at HS. It's an old idea originally rumored for Hollywoodland at DCA many years ago. No good idea ever permanently goes away!

For Disney's near term future, there will be a new CEO in the coming years and who knows how budgets will be cut before Coco breaks ground in 2026. Avengers E-Ticket is breaking ground in 2025 after originally being announced in 2019!

I hope I'm wrong and it all happens!

I think it was originally supposed to be for DHS according to the oldest stuff I could find from 2008.

As my best friend just said, " not everything has to be an IP, it was beautiful on its own. I don't want to step into a different IP everywhere I walk"

He is very upset about getting rid of tom's island and the lake.

I agree, it is beautiful, and its original and makes magic kingdom feel unique.

I just wish they found a new space and leave some things alone. That entire area is so magic kingdom, and now it will be gone, replaced by another movie franchise

I think this is my main issue with it. Yes, I get that it's an area that isn't as popular but every bit of a theme park doesn't have to be rides, shops, and restaurants. You need to have some actual park in your theme park. It's such a fundamental change. I hope they actually do it right if you're going to permanent alter something that's been there since the park opened in 1971.

I just don't want the castle and Main Street to be the only thing I remember at Magic Kingdom when I was a kid. Those are the only 2 things that I can confidently say will never be removed or changed.

Frontier land though and adventure land, are so iconic in everyway.

As far as I know, that's not slated for the parks--it's a Disney+ program of some sort.

But I appreciate the info about previous Monsters Inc land concepts. I wasn't as Disney focused in 2008 so I missed that completely!

While I don't necessarily have a problem with it, I do wonder why they want to go ahead with something this big when they still have some unused space that could use some attention. The Tomorrowland North building has been empty for a long time. Adding just something there would be a be a net gain without as much demo work. I am surprised they haven't done anything with that space.
