EPCOT's CommuniCore Plaza and Hall: All Construction Walls Down for Grand Opening

All construction walls around EPCOT's new CommuniCore Hall, CommuniCore Plaza, and Mickey & Friends are now down ahead of [today's] official opening.

Thank goodness the walls are finally down! And hopefully there will be some interesting festival events in there. But it's so . . . spiky lol. Seems kind of unfriendly for a community building?

Of course they do. Why do you think the gift shops have a/c 😜?
OMG I can totally see someone at Disney saying that while designing this area lol

That stage area for the Encanto show looks miserable in the Florida heat. So does that Mickey and friends queue which I saw from Twitter is entirely outside????

I just really thought that there would be more of a proper stage, not some tiny oval platform. It could definitely use some cover, at least some of those stretched trangular panels that they used to have in the central area. Those would be easy enough to add I guess.

With the weather becoming hotter and hotter you’d think new things would be inside as much as possible…especially queues and stages.

Wonder how they will cast Ariel? Would be amazing if they cast both the animated and live action Ariels. There aren’t enough diverse cast members in prominent acting roles, i understand they are trying to keep to the original look for everyone but for shows I wish they would cast whoever is best no matter the race/ethnicity like some Broadway shows do.

While the show is 100% based on the animated version, it wouldn't necessarily shock me if they cast an actress of a different race. I don't know if they ever did that for VOTLM previously (I think there were only a couple of long-time Ariels for that), but I saw Frozen: Live at the Hyperion at DCA that had a black Elsa. She crushed it too! So while the show is going to use the look of the animated version for costuming etc. I see no reason why they can't cast whoever.

I hope the new show is still live-miked - I would assume so but you never know.

Does anyone know who the 'and friends' are at this meet & greet? Do specific character(s) join Mickey, or is it random?

Traditionally for "Character Spot" it was Mickey, Minnie, & Goofy. I do not know if the lineup will be different.

Totally random and specific question: does anyone know if PUSH the trashcan is still in the Odyssey building? It was there in 2022, but I think I read that the Odyssey building is going to be used for Festival activities? I wonder if they will kick PUSH out of there. My granddaughter loved it, so I’m hoping it’s somewhere. It’s all pre-recorded stuff now and nowhere near as good as it used to be, but only her mom and grandparents remember the old interactive PUSH.

First Ship Arrives at Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!

I will say the distance from the ship to the island was something they conveniently forgot to mention. Whoa!! That's quite the trek to the island and then back to the ship!!

Yes, the reason was that environmentalist were hanging their hat on getting the project canceled because there are some coral reefs close to the island. So Disney countered by building the dock almost a mile off the island and constructing this long walkway. The environmentalists where at a loss at what to come up with to stop the project once Disney satisfied the local government. I am not anti environment, just that this land had been up for sale for over 10 years and absolutely no one had any interest.
