The problem with essentially making Genie+ an anytime FP is crowd control. It caused a big problem back withthe old system because CM's were accepting them long past their window. People would collect them all day, then use them in the late afternoons or evenings, making for very long lines in the FP line. The whole point of a ride distribution system is to even things out and allowing people to ride anytime they choose sort of makes it pointless. Yes, DAS allows this, but for just the kind of reason you talk about. I too would love it, but I also know it would cause huge problems.

Like the other poster I quoted said, you would only be able to hold one at a time and the 2 hour rule would no longer apply. With DAS the return start time is after how ever long the current wait time is which works great for us because DD can't wait in line for long periods of time for both physical and emotional reasons. I'll be the first to admit I don't know how applying this system to Genie+ over the current set number of reserved spaces would work but Universal seems to not have a problem with their express pass.
But, the fact that you have to use one DAS selection before moving on to the next would keep this from happening. If you had to use your return time before moving on to something else, you couldn't hoard for the evening.

If you allowed G+ to return any time after their window opened, you'd also have to remove the "rebook in 2 hours" rule to keep people from doing this hoarding. And then you've got the poor guy that, at 7am, gets Slinky for 5pm and his G+ is worthless until then?

There are really no good answers here because the core problem is that there are more people in a park who want to ride the headliners than there is capacity at those headliners. Long lines are a natural way that the system limits this (only someone who really cares is getting into that 180 minute wait) but it also makes a terrible guest experience. The various cut-the-line options they've implemented over time at least allow the majority of guests (or, with G+, the ones willing to pony up) to at least ride a few headliners without awful line experiences. But, none of them address the core issue that they can't get everyone in the park through Guardians or Rise or FoP in a given day, so some folks have to go without.
I think for the non-expiration time frame to work they would need to get rid of the set number of allowable bookings. We had both the reserved bookings from applying for DAS online ahead of time and the day of DAS. The reserved bookings didn't get used half the time because they just didn't work out and we had to plan around fitting in the other half most days. It was a small taste of Genie+ for us and it was awful.

I think people being able to hold onto reservations longer would outweigh the ability to book more rides with the faster turnover of getting to book again. For every couple powering through all the rides in the park there's a family trying to manage their children and all their necessary breaks (food, bathroom, clean-ups, meltdowns, etc.) But with out the numbers this is all speculation and based on personal experience from my last trip during one of the busiest times (spring break).

Hi guys… saw some work on the boardwalk over in the section coming from Yacht Club towards Boardwalk.

Just got back from AK! Having a White Claw and waiting for everyone to decide what we’re doing next. Kind of on a rain hold. Hope you all have a great weekend!!! 🍻🥂

Currently, the WDW and DLR apps/websites are different and not linked; same login account though. So, I wonder how that will work with MB. Maybe we will have to link our current MB on the DLR app/website.
This is exactly what I was thinking. It's not going to be seemless by any means. Our Magic Bands are going to have to be activated on the DLR app/website. They could very well make it a MB+ only thing there, which would be kind of unfortunate considering the higher overall cost and few designs of MB+ compared to the average MB 2.0. The locals at DLR love collecting merch. Things like popcorn buckets are highly sought after and are sold out in no time. They create far more popcorn bucket designs for DLR than they do for WDW. The vast collection of MB 2.0 would seem to be a no brainer for DLR sales. I guess we'll know soon which way Disney goes on this one.
