EPCOT Opening Historically Early Starting Monday, February 28th

Here are the changes:

  • February 28 – March 5, March 13-19 park hours extended 8:30am to 9pm (previously 10am to 9pm)
  • March 6 – 12: Park hours extended 8:30am to 9pm (previously 10am to 9pm)

The 8:30am opening is not only earlier than we’ve seen in post-COVID times, but historically early when you consider that World Showcase does not have a staggered opening and opens with the rest of the park. With an 8:30am opening on the books until March 19th, it’s clear that Disney is predicting, or at least hoping, for increased attendance at EPCOT over the next month.

In pre-COVID times, it wouldn’t be uncommon for EPCOT to open at 9am, but not open World Showcase until 11am or so. The fact that the entire park is opening at 8:30am is significant and something that we’ll keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
We’re going over Spring Break in a couple weeks 14-20, and i had to replan our Epcot breakfasts. We could do a TS breakfast outside the park and make it for the opening at 9:30. Now we’ll need to come up with something else. Not enough in-park breakfast options. We booked at TaF for 9:40. Thinking we’ll RD Epcot then head that way once things get busy.

Since our trip is in March I'd appreciate it too!😉

I mean granted a normal cruise lasts longer than this on average however most of the upcharges are pretty comparable

captains table = most cruises have signature restaurants
Alcohol and mock-tails= cruises also charge and aside from DCL soda is also upcharged
Shopping on board especially on non DCL ships they pounce on you to look at luxury goods like jewelry and handbags
Paying extra for light sabor training, droid building or Oga’s is like booking an excursion on a port day
Photo packages you guessed it extra on a cruise ship

will I spend $$ on galactic Star cruiser probably not but I WILL be on the wish next year and possibly a non Disney cruise before than

Well, right now most cruises (except Disney, of course) are offering many of these items free to try and get people to cruise again. I keep getting offers with free alcohol, free signature restaurants, free Wifi, free air fare, etc.

Really hope that this becomes permanent.

Can I say that we arrive on March 5th and will be at Epcot twice during our trip and I'm a little (GASP!) *sad* that Epcot is opening so early - I was hoping for a little slower start those morning and have time to sit and eat breakfast before starting our day - which will not happen since we'll need to be at Epcot bright an early!

I am a little scared of the crowds that we'll be engulfed in for our week but we're ready! We're starting early each morning and shall tackle the day as it comes at us!
