So many great suggestions. Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply. A few random thoughts
* I appreciate the concern about me taking the older one to WDW. I see the rationale and I agree I may have to change my thinking. A couple years ago we invited both sons to join us on a Disney cruise. The kid’s parents had absolutely no interest. I keep hoping that friends of theirs will eventually hype the cruise and they’ll reconsider. (Side note we booked a cruise with other son and cancelled after we got to the airport because our flight was delayed and there were no alternatives even though we were traveling two nights early! Son and wife enjoyed the cruise.)
* Suggestions about pass to some place is appealing. I’ll do some research on possibilities.
* Will also check out some of the board game ideas. When they visited in July older one enjoyed Candyland, although I was surprised he said he wanted to win. Surprised because I forgot kids had an understanding on winning that young. I also brought out an old Colorforms (anyone remember them?) of Disney World and when he saw gondolas he said he would like to ride on them.
* Friendship lamp is such a clever idea.
* And Nugget offerings looked interesting.
* Also glad to hear that money is a possibility. I always make them a small stocking (primarily to match the ones I make for parents to hold checks) and I thought about putting in a 20, 10, 5, and 1 dollar bill, in addition to a “real” gift.
