My billing date is Nov 12. If at that point I am charged and rolled into the ad supported version, I'm going to raise hell. The price isn't that big a deal, but the ads are. I didn't opt into them and don't want them.

They really need to make this clear. There was no talk of auto-renewing subscribers to the ad-supported tier, was there?

You'll probably need to call to change to the ad free $10.99/month. You can't pay for the entire year either. I guess they want to be able to raise the rate on demand.
Disney+ is launching the ad-based version on December 8. The price increase for ad-free Disney+ to $10.99/month doesn’t go into effect until December 8 as well.

If your renewal is before December 8 you should still be getting the ad-free version for at the $7.99 a month (until December) or $79.99 annual.

Yeah, and I was just reading that only the AD-FREE plan will have a yearly billing option, at $109.99 for the year (basically the monthly price times 10, so two free months). Is this to assume that if I renew for the year in November as I should be doing, it will be ad-free for the full year?

That’s my thought since you are renewing your current subscription before the price increases are in place.

I saw that post - panicked and ran off to google the dates - and came to the same conclusion. Mini crisis averted.

Okay, I hope that is the case. If so, they need to train their chat representatives better!
I guess we will all find out soon, but I would bet that we are all about to be very disappointed. Based on the lack of information on the accounts page with respect to what are renewal at $79.99 actually entails, Disney may be setting themselves up for a class action on this one. I have a screenshot from last week that still had my renewal set at $69.99. I'm holding onto that.

Doesn't that mean come this December we will start seeing Ads?

Again, what I read was that only the Ad Free version would have annual billing, not the other way around:

https://www.techradar.com/deals/disney-plus-price

"Come December 8, new customers looking to sign up will get to opt between the ad-supported plan, which will cost the standard $7.99 a month, or pay $10.99 a month to forego ads (and only the sans-ads plan will offer a discounted annual rate of $109.99 a year)."

I can't swear that's accurate though.

They sure do! He also told me that I would definitely be getting a Mystery Box, or as he wrote it, a "Disney Drop" offer sometime after the renewal date. Someone else was told on here that there were only 30,000 Mystery Boxes total and that they were randomly offered and all were claimed. It's seriously wacky what info comes from these folks on a day to day basis.

Walt Disney Company Announcement on Ad-Supported Tier

So that just leaves the question, if I am on an annual plan BEFORE December 8, will that become the Basic of Premium verison? I guess we'll see.
I sure hope the rep was wrong and that we are getting locked into Ad-free at the lower rate. He seemed very sure of himself that I wouldn't be Ad-free though.

EDIT: I'll go with the chat Naomeri had over the chat that I had anyday!!

I just chatted with D+, and the guy I was with confirmed that renewing before the ad-supported tier starts means you keep your normal, ad-free service.

Okay, liking that! Of course, the other chat transcripts do make me a little suspicious of their general accuracy. This makes the most sense though. It's like an incentive to lock-in early.

I’m hanging onto this screenshot, just in case something goes weird when ad-supported starts. I didn’t seee anything in the T&C that said they can change my subscription type after I’ve paid in advance. They can change the price between billings (with notification) but not the service type (though I am not a lawyer, so my translation of the legalese may not be perfect 😉)

Love the Coco one, but don't like white bands. They get dirty.
I’m here now & there are a lot of international guests. Wonder if economies are better elsewhere or they’re still spending the revenge travel money.

I have been hearing a lot of Spanish or Portuguese at WDW and UO lately. Maybe South/Latin Americans. Some of South America isn't doing great; I don't know about Mexico. However, for some international travelers, they just have money not matter what's going on in their countries due to familial wealth.

As for the D+ shenanigans, I bet we all see different things. I bet some will get ads in December and some won't :sad2: I just hope there is a way to fix it, if it gets messed up.

You’d be locking in to what’s available at time of purchase which is only no ad options at $79.99.

Ads don’t exist yet and they are letting you do a year in advance. Next year that option won’t exist and they’ll auto renew you at $109.99 because the price went up.
