New Orleans Square Slowly Reopening Walkways as Refurbishment Progresses at Disneyland

Refurbishment projects have taken over New Orleans Square at Disneyland, making it a maze of construction walls.
Between Pirates of the Caribbean being closed for major refurbishment, as well as Blue Bayou, and the traffic improvement project underway throughout the walkways of the land, and the Fantasmic! equipment refurbishments both on Tom Sawyer Island and on the New Orleans Square side, the land has become a real headache to visitors.

But some good news comes as walls are beginning to be removed from the Rivers of America edge of the land, making for more open walkways. Come with us now on a walk around New Orleans Square to see the state of the land.

Work on Tom Sawyer Island has seemingly been completed, with the scaffolding removed and the river refilled in the projection bays.

Modifications Made to Flight of Passage Queue Following Report of Guest Injury

Disney has made modifications to the Flight of Passage queue railings and netting following a report of a guest injuring themselves while waiting for Animal Kingdom’s most popular attraction. As you can see in our photos below, Disney has added vinyl tarp to portions of the Flight of Passage queue where Twitter user Tommy Hawkins reported getting an injury from frayed metal wiring.

Just stabbed my finger on Flight of Passage and drew blood, @DisneyParks , it's clear they have tried to tape these up. My friend @AliciaStella did the same thing five mins late, the whole queue is riddled sharp wires. pic.twitter.com/EVipFcrRot

The injury occurred a few days ago, but Disney has acted quickly to try an remedy the situation.

😂 it’s funny how many people ask me about it!!! I really wish we can change Screen Names!!! It’s just my initials!

Mrs. AP

Although, I’ve been called Mrs. Annual Passholder and Mr. Sap before! 😂 ☺️
And I misread it early on as Ms. RAP so that's what has been stuck in my head ever since.

Yeah, The Wonder, when we were on it, played "If You Wish Upon A Star...." which gave me all the feels. This; eh.
You might be right about Wish on a star but I find it hard to be that a ships horn can do it justice. I’ve never heard it so like I say I could be totally off base.

The internet in general has gotten so bad in recent years with ads that it was becoming almost unusable to me. I finally told DH that I didn't care how he did it or what it cost but he needed to fix it. So he set up a proxy server (I think?) with a raspberry pi to redirect all ad traffic so we wouldn't see it. It works 90+% of the time, there's the random ad banner that sometimes slips through but I don't get irrationally angry or anxious just trying to google search or read the news on my phone anymore. I can totally see the world marching towards the Futurama episode where they project ads into your dreams.

RUMOR:

Walt Disney World Planning to Charge Hotel Guests for Daily Housekeeping Services

As of March 2022, the following resort hotels have resumed their daily or regularly scheduled housekeeping services:
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Disney’s Boardwalk Resort
  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
  • Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort
  • Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • Disney’s Old Key West Resort
  • Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

As you might notice, the above does not include anything below a Deluxe Resort level or Disney Vacation Club Resort.

There is still a shortage of housekeeping cast members and there has been a constant slew of job fairs to try to fill the vacant positions. According to people we spoke to who attended a job fair this weekend, they were told by a Disney recruiter that “Disney is moving towards room service being offered every other day as the standard.” The recruiter went on to state that guests who want the additional, daily housekeeping service could pay to add it. This is something that is already offered to Disney Vacation Club members staying in villa accommodations.

Given the list above, it is assumed that the Deluxe Resort guests will receive daily housekeeping services included with their stay, but again, that is purely speculation at this point based solely on it already having returned to those hotels. Anything below this level would likely be subject to the daily charge.

Pretty amazing. Probably start charging for toilet paper by the square next.
