Disney Movie Club HELP!

This might be the right board, but I thought it would be a good place to start! Plus, my search results came up with nothing!

Does anyone belong to the Disney Movie Club? Do you like it?

I see where they are advertising everywhere that you get 4 movies for $1.99, 1 at $14.99 and then 1 at $9.99...

Then it says that you just have to order the required minimum of movies at the regular price of like $20 over the next 2 years I believe.

Does anyone know what the required number of movies is that you have to purchase at $20?

What is everyone experience with this club?

I know they send you cards asking if you want the selected movie, etc.

Is it a pain to cancel once you buy the selected amount of movies?

It sounds like it could be a good deal depending on the amount of movies you have to buy.

Or are there other places that are better to get movies? Ebay, etc.?

I've belonged for, hmm, 2 years? I like it, though I rarely order from them.

If you have a solid group of movies you would want to get, it can work out well. Order the first group of movies at the low cost, then order the others as quick as you can, and in as few orders as you can to reduce the total shipping cost.

If you do that, be sure that specials aren't being added to your order, though...you want to pay full price until you're done with the obligation. If memory serves, if you go slowly, you should see a link to take specials off of any given order. Just go slow.


I took way too long to finish my obligation (for me it was 5 movies at full price), and it got SO hard to finish it up. Because you know you'll pay full price, plus shipping, for those movies. But you'll go to Costco and see cheapie disney movies with no shipping and no waiting, you'll be tempted by sites like amazon, deepdiscount, etc etc, where there might not be tax (for us, ordering with amazon gives us tax b/c we live in a state where they have a physical presence), etc etc. So have a list in mind and finish FAST.

Because once you finish it, you'll be a VIP member, and then you get some nice sales! I missed last month's sale where it was "buy one, get others at 60% off" or something crazy like that, and this month, subsequent movies are "only" 40% off. If you order as a VIP you can visit the Pins page and they'll have one pin you can order for free.

Now you do have to pay attention to the offered features! If you order online, you'll get an email every few weeks letting you know what the offered movie is, and you will also get a mailing. Decide quickly and respond quickly! I know that many have missed responding and have gotten an unwanted movie in the mail, and they just "return to sender" and get everything refunded, but in reading their guidelines that's NOT the norm and seems to be an exception. Since I'm rarely given exceptions in my life, when that happened to me, I just kept the movies, b/c I didn't want to send it back and get charged return shipping and not get the original shipping back (even though plenty have not had that experience).

So pay attention and respond ASAP.

Because of the VIP deals, I haven't yet canceled, though I rarely buy now that I finished my obligation.

I can't say anymore than bummershoot, it's that simple. It's a great deal if you look at the overall package. It's hard to see new movies coming out for $15 and you have to pay $20+ but you have to remember what they're all costing when you put the total # of movies with total $$. I have been a member for probably 6 years and no problems. I seem to remember being able to wait for free shipping to buy my full priced movies so I did save some there. You do get some great deals once your a VIP member, also before you get VIP status. It's worth it if you have a lot of videos you want to get for sure.

yes, and I woulnd't cancel once you've done your commitment. Once you become a VIP member, you can also automatically deny all monthly movies and just go in and buy ones you wnat when you want with the great sales.

I didn't like it..The deal at the beginning is nice , but if you are forgetful( like me) and don't cancel the movie of the month, they send it auto and charge you for it.Plus, I can get alot of the Disney new releases a lot cheaper at Walmart.It wasn't for me
