Disney Member Discount?

I hope this is ok to ask, but my boyfriend has a cousin that he is not close to and maybe see's once at year that works for Disney. We are not sure if we will ask him, but I'm not asking what the discount is I just want to know how it works. Will the cousin have to book the resort for us. Can we get more then one room, I just want to know what we are asking him to do before we ask? I feel bad asking him because we don't know him well. With that said he has offered when we do see him.
