Off to get ready to go! We need a new ceiling fan for our bedroom. We run it ALL the time and last night, it sounded like a jet taking off! No kidding! Steve just yelled down and said he tried to switch direction and it still sounds awful. It was here when we moved in and the house was built in '92, so it's probably original.

Home Depot, here we come!

Kristin, I would like to know more about this night! Like how you set it up, what you charged, if you charged, etc. I think this might be a fun thinig to do as a fundraiser! Have to know more and think about it!

I am officially addicted to Facebook and Word Twist Ladder, although I am not very good at it! LOL I like facebook because I can get it on my phone and keep up with it all day!! that might be a bad thing too! oh well...

The Family Game Night is so fun. What we do is it is really Bingo but we had to stop calling it Bingo night since the Gaming Comission wanted to get a cut of our profits. So we changed the name of it to avoid paying them. Come on like the Gaming Comisssion does not make enough money off of the casinos here in CT? Ok, that is a whole other discussion...LOL!!!!!!
We do two family game nights. One we charge for and this one in Jan. is totally free event. Since it is winter time etc. We used to have the Girl Scouts sell treats at it but last night they could not so here is what we did. We had the PTA moms bake and then we own a popcorn machine so we did popcorn and gave it all away for free, and we had drink boxes, etc. too...
We have the big BINGO light up board so when we call a number the number lights up on this board. We have "Guest" callers, like the Vice - Principal, Gym Teacher, etc. someone that the kids love in the school so it makes it more fun. Then the kids get a book of Bingo cards, I think we get them from Oriental Trading, we normally charge a dollar for a book. The event runs for two hours, but the book contains about ten cards so you could easily charge more for it. Then you could charge for the food too. We usually make about $250.00 off of just the food then the about that off of the Bingo Cards. So it does not make a ton of money but next year we are going to charge for the popcorn too and it will make some more money tooo..Once you own the Bingo Machine there is very little cost involved. The prizes we get from Oriental Trading, and from the Dollar Store too, but the kids love the stuff tooo!!!!

Call me if you want more details about it really easy event to plan and it is good FUN for the whole family. We used to do more games, kind of like our Family Math Night but it got to complicated and required to many volunteers, and this is easier and the whole family gets involved. We had close to 300 people last night and it was held in our School Cafeteria. So there is no cost to get the school, etc. We do have to pay a small fee to have a janitor present to clean up the floor, and set up the tables, etc. But that is all it is not much at all.......

Kristin, that sounds a LOT easier then the Carnival I planned last year!! I think I will bring this up to the middle school PTA and see if we can get this together. I'll call you if they think this is something we could pull off! Too bad you aren't closer so we could borrow your bingo board!!! LOL

RISE AND SHINE PARROTHEADS!!

It's the weekend!!!!

It's a toasty -2 this morning, with a forecasted high of 30. I'll beleive it if I see it! We've taken to closing off rooms in the house that we don't use all that much.....the guest room and man cave which are over the garage....in efforts to maintain heat in the used parts of the house! I know my bathrom was REALLY cold this morning! We had shut the door to it too!

We are going to go out today. Colton and Steve need haircuts and then Colton wants a small desk for in his room, so we'll try a few places for that. Then I want to go to Olive Garden for lunch to get the Soup Salad and Breadsticks...with the new Chicken Gnocchi soup! I LOVE Gnocchi!! I could eat it until I was sick. I hope this new soup doesn't disappoint!

Ok, so it's 50 degrees warmer, but I think the wind has voided that difference! It is nasty windy out there, I bet the wind chill is -15 at least. UGH. Maybe tomorrow it will be better LOL.

Evening all!

Busy day for us! We ended up getting all 3 men's hair cut, at 2 different walmarts, home depot, big lots, DFW furniture, best buy and steak and shake...note, not olive garden. Boys didn't want to eat there...so we went to SnS instead. It was good though. Heidi, I don't know if it could be as good as the plate we shared! that was YUM-O!!!

We've installed a new ceiling fan in our bedroom. So much quieter!
Colton got his birthday gift early! Nearly a month! But he is happy with his new Ipod touch.
Colton also got a small desk from walmart. Cost a mear $19! If it lasts a year, I'd be happy! LOL He and I built it while Steve and Connor worked the fan.

We are now pretty tired and looking forward to chillaxin' for the rest of the night!

Hey Everybody!
We do a similar Bingo, but it's for Books. Everyone brings a slightly used book for a game card. Winners (children) pick out a new book from us (Title I Teachers), parents get a candy treat. We play about three games and in between games, we have wiggle time..... usually Cotton Eye Joe, or Cha Cha Slide, etc. At the end when the games are over, the children get to pick out a new "old" book from the pile to take home. We've had excellent turn outs. I've found where you can do a computer version of a Bingo game caller, just hook up your computer and projector, there you go.

I'm tired just reading what you did today!!! LOL
we didn't do much except driving all the way to the vet's (about half an hour away) to get my dog some heartworm meds (she didn't want the oral liquid kind) . Then we went grocery shopping then we cleaned the basement.

Evening all! I am eating cake from Coldstone right now, yummy! There are 7 girls in my kitchen, but it sounds like the entire middle school is there!!!!!!!!!!! There is 1 girl that is ridiculously loud, which makes them all loud, UGH! I picked up a horror movie at the library today, I think I'll go watch it on my laptop with some headphones.
