Disney lovers first time at Universal

If you want to know what the wait times are right this minute, you can. Just download the Universal app. You can check the wait times for any of the rides at any time you want.
Thanks I saw that and downloaded it. I was wondering how the lines are in June?? We usually would go to Disney the 2nd week in May and the lines were real manageable and with fast passes, going to rope drop and following a touring plan we had got to ride most everything we wanted. Since my grandchildren are a little bit older my daughter did not want them to miss school.

Sorry misinterpreted your question. I don't go in the Summer months any longer. Kids are out of school, it is hot and sticky. Crowds and more crowds. But I do understand that some don't have flexibility I may now have. :o

If you are planning on going during the summer months, I'd really suggest getting a room at one of the deluxe hotels for the EPs. I do that even during the off-seasons to be able to bypass the lines. My guess is during heavy times, even the EP lines can back up at some of the rides. Some of the most popular rides will probably have over 1 hr (maybe even 2 or more hrs) waits in the regular lines. When I was there last week (the first week of February was predicted to be one of the slowest weeks of the year), around lunch-time, I could see wait times for some rides in the 45+ minute range. I'd be scared to think what it might be during a very crowded day.

We are a family of six(kids are 15,13,8 &8). We typically go to Disney, but are really excited to try Universal for the first time this trip. Unfortunately I have really procrastinated planning this trip(we will be at Universal March 4-6) so I am hoping I am able to stay onsite with Express Passes.

Two specific questions:
1. I haven’t researched the rides or park map yet, but was wondering what your families must do rides are? We are not huge HP, Marvel or Minion fans so no need to base it on those things.

2. For Disney I plan a ton for our touring strategy and meal reservations. Obviously we are less than a month away from our universal trip so I am not going to have the time for much planning. Does Universal need the type of planning that Disney needs to “do it right”?

Any other suggestions or advice is welcome!
Thanks!

Cabana Bay is awesome. It’s a great hotel. We have stayed at some great hotels on our trips, but there is something about the vibe in CBBR which makes probably my favorite. We are going to Dubai later this month, so maybe the hotel we are staying at there will knock it out of the 1st place :)

Anyways. If you stay at CBBR you might want to look into including Volcano bay in your tickets.

It is really an awesome park. Staying at Cabana bay, you will get a special entrance to the park. If you do get VB tickets try to request staying in the Americana building. You will be 5-8 minutes walking from your hotel room to the park entrance (maybe even less). It is a great way to start the day, awesome slides and a laid back atmosphere.
