Disney lovers did one day at USO/IOA

^Well, you could also say those things about Disney too.

Well, at Universal, I can get unlimited Express Entrance by staying on property.

Disney isn't perfect. Neither is Universal.

Its just silly though isnt it. All are places to enjoy so why restrict yourselves. There are loads of myths that people say over here and they are complete rubbish.

1) I was told that my kids were too young to go (7years, 3 years and 10 weeks old). Now ok, the baby was a bit young but there were tonnes of stuff for my other two.

2) My kids wouldnt remember it because they were so young - total bobbins. They havent shut up about it.

3) Only Disney is good for the kids and crap for the adults. -A load of rubbish. Loads of great stuff for adults to go on at Disney

4) Universal is no good for kids - Totally true if you ignore all the great things that are there for them  A lot of the stuff my kids want to go back to are at Universal!!!

Bobbins?

That's great :rotfl2:

I'm going to use that :p

I love our friends overseas...love the words and expressions they use..... and, from what I understand, our words are just as intriguing :scratchin

^ gee thanks. That post makes those feel just great after we try very hard to give you all a good experience, and that's what you say to us.

"UGH you're wedding was disgusting! I'm never going to one of your events again! I hated your food, and the service sucked."

"But we spent months planning it."

"Ugh, nothing is EVER gonna be as good ____ & ____'s Wedding!"

and we loved it! I have always wanted to try the parks out but would never want to give up any of our Disney time. This trip was just my 12 year old ds and I meeting up with others for a WDW meet so I decided to put Saturday aside and give it a try.

My first impression was "this is not Disney" and I was happy about that!. There is only so much sugar and pixie dust one can take.

It was me, ds12 and two of my friends. One a severe Disney freak and one who also loves US/IOA and was our tour leader. Of course the Disney freak had a frown sometimes but it looks like she managed to have a good time anyway.

We got there a little after opening and left at 2:30 and got all the major rides in at both parks and some pics with characters and even had time to eat lunch at Margaritaville.

One big lesson I learned the hard way was to write down my locker number. I did fine for a while but by the time we got to the Hulk and rode I forgot what locker I put my bag into. A TM had to come over with a key and they did a scan of my finger and found out which one I had.(so embarrassing)

My only small complaint about the parks is that my ds is in a wheelchair and the TM's at the front of the rides didn't give us directions on what to do. At Disney they tell us where to go without asking so I assumed when the TM's let us in that we didn't need to do anything special. Well after backtracking twice to get on elevators we learned to ask before we got on where to go. Most of the time it was through the baby swap area and on Spiderman we had to enter through the exit. It was a little frustrating but we got over it and now know what to do next time.

The day after our trip I'm usually sitting here trying to figure out when our next WDW trip is, now today I'm trying to figure out when we can get back to USO/IOA and spend more days there.

Welcome to the world of the enlightened. Now you know why we wonder if some of the people who post the ridiculousy negative reviews have actually ever been to Universal. :confused3

Always good to see someone else that embraces all that the different parks have to offer! :goodvibes

I love Disney for what they do, but I love Universal for what they do too. It doesn't have to be either/or. Have that cake and eat it too! :thumbsup2

Is it just me or does anyone else think that phrase doesn't make sense? Why would you want a cake, if you couldn't eat it?

..... I don't do gore.

What were you expecting? :confused3

..... Maybe it would be different if it wasn't pouring all night.

Most likely....rain has a major impact (especially) on IOA...mostly outdoor rides, so rain=closed.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: (Ya just haveta "know" Tricia & her sense of humor :rolleyes1 )

We decided to do Halloween Horror Nights with the three hour upgrade to Island of Adventures. We have been considering buying a year pass to Universal, we have one at Disney, SeaWorld and Busch Gardens. We were really excited to ride a few roller coasters and then spend the evening being scared. From the time we walked into Islands of Adventure it started pouring rain, we bought an umbrella and trekked out to find a ride. But they were closed, they were all closed. In two and a half hours we rode Spiderman (which was awesome), and ate an awful hamburger and chicken sandwich.

Since everything was closed we decided to see if we could get into HHN early. We did and were able to get in three haunted houses while it was raining and people weren't venturing out. Originally I was worried about being scared (I am kind of a wuss) but the houses weren't that scary. I think I would have enjoyed them more in the light and appreciate all that went into them. After that we didn't do any more haunted houses, we couldn't justify the 90 minute lines. We did do Twister twice, Earthquake, and Shrek and really enjoyed them. We also saw three of the four shows, I loved the Rocky Horror Picture Show it was amazing, Bill and Ted's was funny, but Jack's Carnival was disgusting and a waste. I don't do gore.

After this experience we can't imagine going more than once a year. It has some neat things, but overall we didn't really enjoy it. Maybe it would be different if it wasn't pouring all night.

My boyfriend put it best when he said,"Disney is like making love to your wife, and Universal is like *%#$ing your mistress."
Sorry you had a bad time and the weather has been lousy the past couple of weekends. I'm not surprised IOA closed most of their rides...I mean...who wants to ride in the rain? Most of Disney's rides are indoors so you can do more in bad weather...not Universal's fault.

As far as HHN is concerned, I wouldn't have stopped after three houses. HHN is more about the houses and shows than the rides...you can do those any time. I liked the RHPS Tribute and Bill and Ted's too...I didn't do the Freak Show or and only saw parts of Jack's show.

I think you should try Universal again and spend the day and hopefully you won't have bad weather the next time. Universal's AP's are MUCH more affordable than Disney's will ever be plus you get IN park discounts...something Disney doesn't do.

I really can't believe you think the bf's statement sums it up best...about the wife and the mistress.

Don't take it personally Timmy...there are still plenty of us who think you guys do a hell of a job! :thumbsup2

Tissa, I am so happy you enjoyed Universal! Welcome to the Dark Side! :goodvibes

On another note, it's been a long time since I used the "ignore" button ... surprised this thread gave me a chance to do so. :rolleyes1

That is exactly right, Timmy. When we go to Disney, we always laugh at how immature they think we are and find it very condescending. I'm just glad there are places for everyone.

Tricia, sorry if it sounded like I was picking on you. :flower3: I have heard that saying all my life though, & I've never thought it made sense. Wouldn't it make more sense to say, "You can eat your cake & have it too?" :confused3 Oh well, I guess I'm the only one who spends time thinking about totally useless info. :o

Barb, thanks for having my back. I definitely don't want to accidentally hurt anyone's feelings.

Oh no!! You wouldn't hurt her feelings....she's cool....kinda "weird-goofy" like me :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: But, I agree....the saying IS weird! "Have" "Want" ...eh, just eat the frickin cake already! :thumbsup2

Many people have annual passes for Universal and never go to HHN. Universal and IoA are totally different on HHN than on other days of the year. Basing a decision on how you like the park when you were there for HHN isn't very realistic. You did not have the time to experience the rides or the parks on a normal day.

I think that there are people so high on the Disney crack that they can't see the good in anything else. Now I'll admit I'm a Mickey lover but I'm not so blinded by the mouse that I can't see the good in other parks.

Hey it's their loss if they want to owe their soul to the Mickey store.

That'd be us!

:lmao: :lmao: never heard it referred to like THAT before...but :lmao: (we usually call it "dust in the eyes" or "high on pixie dust")....but, either way, very well said statement :thumbsup2

yup....thats true. Lets not forget who's language it is though

You've hijacked it and changed it with all your silly words like strollers and gasoline

:rotfl:

:)

Ive been saying that for years. It doesnt make sense at all yet it is a well used phrase over here in the UK.

I work with a British lady who will say "Brilliant" when I give her good news and all I can see is Guinness when she says it :rotfl2:

I'm a big Disney lover and tried Universal for the first time since the 90s and I was really impressed. The Mummy ride and the Spider man ride were unbeleivable! I also thought that, for a kids ride, the Dr Seuss ride was fun and entertaining if you compare it to the Fantasyland rides in Disney. In the future, I will make sure to plan 2-3 days at Uni/IOA whenever I make a Disney World trip! Also, we love characters and it was awesome to get to meet cool characters like Homer, Marge, Lisa and Bart! What a nice surprise! Cant wait to try their new ride and also to see the Harry Potter addition! I'm hooked on Universal! :thumbsup2
