We've seen the bad guys, now what about the nice ones. What experience can you relate about the nice way people have acted in Disney World.

Something I like to do is just before I leave a park I get my party together and we all get a Fast Pass. We look for a group of people just arriving and give them the passes. All we say is have a great time and to please do the same for someone else. It's fun to see the reaction on their faces. :thumbsup2

The fast pass idea is a great one, and we'll have to use it in March. As far as generous gestures I've seen:
2002, at the Polynesian...We'd gone to Disney to celebrate my Dad's retirement. Since my mom doesn't get around very well, she'd mainly stayed at the resort, and joined us for meals at DTD, other resorts, etc. We'd gone to O'Hana for the character breakfast, and she'd decided impromptu to go to the Magic Kingdom that day with the grandkids. As she waited in line at Guest Services to buy a one-day ticket for MK, a kind lady offered her a remaining day she wasn't going to use. We all got weepy!!

2004: A VERY generous person on these boards (hey Lauren, you know who I'm talking about), had to cancel a family trip due to a health reason. She gave my family her tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, and refused any money. We'd never met (still haven't), live 1,000 milies away from each other, and in her time of crisis, gave so generously. We had an amazing time, made even more special by a new-found friend.

Disney Magic really does exist! :wizard:

These are great stories - thanks for sharing! I am sure there are others out there with stories like these! :sunny:

If there is a line for the ladies room I always let the children go first, if we get the first room or seat at a ride and there are people with children behind us I always offer to switch seats so the kids can get the better view.

Doesnt sould like much, just common courtesy I guess

This story may sound silly compared to the others, but it made my nieces day.

We were at the Food & Fun Center at the Contemporary last weekend, she was playing games and wanted to get lots of tickets for prizes, but of course as a 4 year old her skills aren't what they should be and her tickets weren't amounting to much. A man and his daughter walked up to us at the skeet ball game and handed us a LOAD of tickets! He said his daughter just likes to shoot hoops, she doesn't care about the prizes. I thanked them profusely and a few minutes later the girl came back and gave us more tickets! So Bri went from having about 40 tickets to having 150! So she was able to get a bunch of those cheap little toys and she was happy as can be. It doesn't take much to make a 4 year olds day. :)

On our most recent trip at the end of December at the GF, we had just arrived and had gone out to eat our first magical dinner with Chef Mickey at the CR. We came back and were admiring the gingerbread house in the lobby of the GF when one of the lifeguards approached my Dad and told him that a family had cancelled for one of the specialty fireworks cruises that departs from the GF Marina and goes around Bay Lake and 7 Seas Lagoon, and parks in front of the MK for Wishes. The lifeguard was looking for a family to fill the boat because of the cancellation, and he just happened to pick us..and for no charge! Now keep in mind how much the cruises run...somewhere in the $200.00- $300.00 I think we were told. I couldn't believe it! My Dad and I were the only ones who were not tired from the long day, so we both went. It was an amazing experience. Our guide told us so many neat facts about the MK resorts and we got an out of this world view of Wishes and the water pageant as well! To commorate the occasion, we even got a nice certificate! Now that's Disney Magic!!

July 2005. First trip to the world, I took 500 glow sticks for the grandkids. We went to Fantasmic and took 100 with us with the idea to give them to kids around us. My dgc were 4-8-10. The kids started giving them out and were having such a good time doing it. One little boy took one showed it to his father then ran back to my granddaughter with his arms out and this huge grin on his face. He said something to her in a forgein language, I have no idea what language, and gave her a hug!! Just thinking about this brings a tear to my eye!!!! They all had such fun doing this we did it again on our last night at MK this time we took all that we had left, about 200. We gave the kids the choice of riding the rides or giving out the glow sticks guess what they chose to do? Yes, no rides till the glow sticks were gone!!!! I am going again in June with my older son and his family and we will take at least 1000 this trip!!!! I got this idea from the dis!!!!!!

I've made quite a few friends by offering them a band aid. I carry them in my diaper bag, and there always seems to be someone that has a blister, or a scraped knee that's needed one.

We have had many great poeple do Disney Like things for us on our trips.
A great little boy gave DS his Mickey Mouse balloon making DS's day!
A family let us cut in line for an autograph and photo with Goofy when DS was having a melt-down about the line.
CM's at the Poly came to our room after we had to leave the luau because DS was afraid of the fire. They insisted we order from room-service at no cost and re-funded our $ for the luau.
Many many people have helped us with Ds' wheelchair, opened doors, helped us over the curb etc.
Many people have smiled and winked at us during the day just letting us know that they understand how hot and tired we are.
CM's in the parks and in the hotels go out of their way to make our vactions magical!!

What a great thread and wonderful ideas to spread the magic. Although we've always given away any fastpasses we had left, I never thought to actually get some for the purpose of giving them away. What an easy way to spread some cheer. :)

At DL, Disney Visa cardholders get up to 2 free strollers by showing their card. We get these every time we go, and give one or both away to the next people in line, or a family we see walking around without a stroller.

The last time we were in AK, we had a special fast pass for 6 people, we had decided we weren't going to use it, and we went out in search of someone we thought would enjoy it. Near the safari we found a man with 4 small children waiting for his wife to finish up in a bathroom, we asked him if they had been on the safari yet and he said no the line was too long. We handed him the fast pass, explained it to him, that they only needed one for the whole family. I think he was going to pass out, he had 4 kids all under that age of about 6, 2 being really small and starting to get a little crabby. He asked us what we wanted for it, we told him all we wanted was for him and his family to have a good time. His older daughter promised they would.

I hope they enjoyed the break they would get on the safari. It was pretty hot for April and it was crazy busy that day.

We had a lot of fun doing that, those kids were thrilled.

Not sure if this technically counts as Disney b/c it was at the Swan but....

A few years ago I had one of those portraits in Liberty Square done and framed, well on the way out (b/c I'm short and weak) the turnstile didn't move when I pushed it and all the glass in the frame shattered. DM and I were so worried that the picture would be ruined (it was only pastals) so we went to the concierge woman and she called MK and got a new frame and gave it back to us all wrapped in bubble wrap and everything to keep it safe :goodvibes She was so incredibly nice and understanding!

Never thought of the FP idea, that must be so nice for people! :thumbsup2

When I went to WDW 3 years ago it was my goal to get as many autographs and pics with characters as possible. Now you have to understand that I was going on 50. Anyways, I was the last one in line to have my picture taken with Pluto and they were trying to hurry things up as the characters were all getting back on the bus.(This was at Epcot) A little boy about 3 just ran up to Pluto and hugged him. The CM told his mother that I was the last one in line and then he had to leave. Well I just couldn't let this boy be disappointed so I told the CM that it was ok and he could go. After the boy had his picture taken the CM stopped me and told Pluto that he had to let me have my picture taken with him since I was nice enough to let that boy cut in front of me. So we were all very happy and I got my autograph and picture. The magic lives. pixiedust:

These are all great things that have been done for people. A couple of years ago we got a free lanyard and pins at check in for all of us it was a special promotion that we had. It was when the pin trading just started. We decided that we would give away two of the them on our last day. We had already checked out and were waiting for our shuttle to the airport and saw a couple with 2 children just getting there, so we gave them to the parents for the children. They asked how much for them and we said nothing. Just have fun trading. I just think that everyone should do a little something special for someone else. :flower3: pixiedust:

I was eating dinner in the Pepper Market at CS with my wife and very finicky daughter. As those of you that are familiar with this restaurant can attest, it is a very busy dining room that has about 8 different areas and about a go zillion choices for food none of which suited my 6 year old.

She wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

I asked our way busy waiter if one was available and he said he would check. I watched him as he went to every service station and asked. He disappeared into the kitchen and emerged a few moments later empty handed. I then watched as he left the Market. A few minutes later he came back to the dining room with a plastic box.

He had gone to a small store in the resort and purchased a "To Go" PB&J sandwich for my daughter.

I've been in the resort industry for 30 years and at times I get to conduct a training class on Guest Service. I tell the peanut butter and jelly sandwich story every time.

I was so impressed that I left him a %100 tip.

I love this thread and see that it has fallen 3 or 4 pages back, why is it if it were a thread of complaints it would still be on page 1? :confused3

Anyway, I wanted to add a couple of our own magical experiences:

Once, while waiting for the monorail at the Poly, we were told that we could ride up front. A family behind us came up and had a little boy about 5, he immediately asked the CM if they could ride up front, but of course we were already told we could. The family were very obviously disappointed. My ds,9 at the time, gave up our seats to let them have the opportunity since we had already done it once on that trip. That little boy just about knocked my ds down hugging him.

The other time the magic was given to us. My ds lost his shoe on POTC, it's still a joke at our house. (OT,We joke that the hairy legged pirate is going to be wearing his shoe every time we get on) Anyway, we were told by a CM to go to Town Hall and explain what happened. We were given a voucher to go to any shop and purchase any pair of shoes we wanted. He ended up with a pair of Buzz lighyear shoes that lit up when he walked, he was thrilled.

I hope this thread can stay up front for a little while longer, I like to read the positive things!!

I love this thread!

We went to WDW last year, we were gonig to TOT and got fastpasses. Me and DS went on and used ours. DH and other DS went to get on but didn't use theirs since the line was short. (had to do child swap since DD was a baby) By the time he got off, the line was getting long again, we gave the two fastpasses away to a father and son who were debating if they should get in line. The boy said thank you and ran toward the entrance.

We got some magic on our trip. The boys did pin trading. They had full lanyards when we went. DS wanted to trade every single pin for Stitch pins. We went to the pin shop in Frontierland. I bought one of the Belle pins that open up and have a mirror inside. I took it back to the room, kept it in the drawer and when I got it out, it broke. The pin holding it together had fallen out. I had my receipt and took it back. The CM gave me a new one and then picked another Belle pin and gave it to me for free just because. When we were leaving, DS asked if he had any Stitch pins to trade. He didn't but he said "Wait here". He came back a couple of minutes later with one. He said he knew another CM who had a cool Stitch pin and wanted to go get it for DS before someone else traded it.

At MGM, we were waiting in line to get a picture with Stitch. We were about 10 people back and the CM said he would only be there for 7 more minutes before they were switching characters. We were getting closer and DS was getting nervous that he would leave before he got his picture. One family was in line before us and the CM said only one more family. DS was near tears. The mom turned around and asked us if we wanted to switch places. They already had Stitch and wanted the next character that was coming out. DS was beaming. That is all he talked about the rest of the day, how that nice family let us have their place. He bought a special Stitch frame with his own money for that picture that we took of him and Stitch and has it on our fireplace mantle. Thank you, whoever you are out there, you made our trip special!

this is a great thread!

my stories seem a bit silly compared to some others...

we like to do *small* things that make people smile... my best friend and i, whenever we eat at a fast food place, tend to get kid's meals.. we don't eat big meals... and we'll always give the toys to the next kids we see... (or those sat behind us on the hopper bus to the park ;) )

we also gave a french family glo sticks each... they were eyeing up ours so we gave them some! we made friends and even sang all parade songs together!

on a VERY cold and VERY long december day in DLRP i finally managed to bag a table and yelled my friend over... when isaw a woman with a kid in a stroller, another kid and carrying a tray... she was looking round for somewhere to sit... so i gave her the table... but... someone saw me do that, and offered spaces at their table!

what goes around, comes around guys!

My mom was going to a Convention at the Coranado Springs Resort. Since she was traveling without Dad she just brought the minimal- a little bit of cash and one credit card to charge everything to. Well, she gets to the desk to check in, and the CM tells her that her card is being denied, but he is going to try it again. My mom was freaking out because she had nothing else with her (apparently it was a new credit card, and Dad was supposed to activate it). The CM comes back and tell her that unfortunately the card was denied again. My mom began to explain the situation to the CM, and through studdering says 'I'm sorry, I can't believe this, I am going to cry.' Well, the CM's response was. 'This is Disney, maam. There is no crying at Disney." He checked her in, and let her go to her room, explains to her that she can use her room card if she needs anything and to just come back once she had the credit card situation all fixed.

Those CM's are the best! pixiedust:
