Disney-Like Behavior...Inspired by UnDisney-Like Behavior

Aw! Momtoa princess, thats really beautiful.
Last year when we were in MGM we ordered a counterservice meal, My son wanted something different from evereyone else and we were told we'd have to wait about 10 minutes for it to be cooked. We waited, no problem, then when we were called they gave us a tray full of desserts, we said 'we didn't order these' but they said 'go ahead, you had to wait 10 minutes', we were so chuffed! a 10 minute wait is normal anyway and we weren't bothered at all.
I also make sure I take pics for groups so they can all be in the photo and ALWAYS offer my seat on busses.
Love the idea for the glow sticks and the fastpasses, will be doing that in september

Mom to a Princess - that's a beautiful story. I'm so glad your dd had that wonderful experience.

There is a very disney-like person on the dis. About a month ago I posted for ideas for welcome type gift for a friend's family. Feralpeg was wonderful and offered to drop off 3 gift bags for the little ones for free. I was so touched. The gifts were wonderful, and turned out to be even more wonderful one of the 4 yo's came down with the stomach flu about 20 minutes before landing in Orlando. She had to stay in the hotel room with DM while DDad and twin brother and little sis got to go to MK without her. :sad2: She just laid in her bed, clutching her plushie and saying how much she loved it. In fact, she loved it so much she gave her brother a chance to share the same feeling - so apologies for those that were in the GF pool last Monday. He truly gave his dad no warning. :scared1:

This past Sunday afternoon while waiting for the bus back to the hotel a woman walked by with her child by the hand and she said to her, "You are such a great kid, I'm so glad we took this trip together!"

I'm getting all teary eyed reading these wonderful stories. It's so much nicer to read about the good things than the bad.

We have had so many great experiences with other guests and CM's. Our last trip, Christmas 2004, we arrived on a Saturday mid-afternoon and dd wanted to go to Space Mtn immediately. There was a huge line and I was trying to talk her out of it when a lovely woman came up with two Fast Passes and said, "Here, use these. And they're for RIGHT NOW!!" She was just so enthusiastic and excited that it helped us get into the right mood for Disney at the beginning of our trip. Thank you, kind lady!

DD's favorite restaurant is Tubbi's at the Dolphin. She tries to work it around so we have to eat there at least once a day--her favorite is the grilled cheese. On our last day there, she was upset because it was still breakfast hours and she couldn't get a grilled cheese. A manager overheard our conversation and asked what was going on. When we explained that this was dd's favorite restaurant and grilled cheese was her favorite meal--she said, "You go sit right down and I'll take care of it." She brought a grilled cheese meal out to dd a few minutes later and she told me, "We're not usually anyone's favorite restaurant and we need to take care of good customers like your dd." :lmao: Now dd is 14, bless that manager's heart, it's not like she was going to have a meltdown without a grilled cheese so it was extra kind of her.

We also give fast passes away and like to chat with the little ones we see waiting in line or on the buses. We made the acquaintance of one wonderful little girl named Ellie while waiting in line for WWTBAM. It was mid-morning and I (bad mother that I am) allowed dd to get cotton candy. Now Ellie really had her eye on that cotton candy and she sidled up to start a conversation with dd. I snuck around and asked Ellie's mom if it would be ok for her to have some of the cotton candy and she just laughed and said, "What the heck? They're on vacation." So my big ole 14 yo and this little 3 yo sat together on the floor and dug into the cotton candy--Ellie giving advice on the proper way to smush it up the whole time. DD wanted to adopt her so we could take her on the kids rides. :lmao: It was adorable.

The fact that most people are so friendly and happy at WDW is one of the big reasons we love going there so much.

When we were there in October, we were on the reciving end of some Pixie Dust and were able to pass it along to someone else. A woman whose family was leaving mid-week gave my daughter three park admission tickets that they would be unable to use. We already had tickets for the day, as we had purchased our admissions as part of a 7-day package. We took the extra tickets with us to AK and gave them to a family who was waiting in line at the ticket booth. It was a great way to start the day!

In the fall of 2002 My mom, dd and I went on a week long vacation to WDW. We stayed at ALL Star Sports. On our first day in the MK it seemed that each time we were in line to meet a character it was thier time to take a break. DD bing only 18 months was having a hard time with this. :sad2:

Luck finally seemed on our side when we found a group of characters back by the train station in toontown. Daisy was there. My dd was just crazy for her at that time. Well ofcourse when it came to dds time they had to go on break. DD got very upset. My mom took her over to a bench and was calming her down. I aksed the cm when they would be back (the characters were gone by this point) and she told me other places I could see them but that this was not a regular spot for them. I thanked the cm and we ended up talking for a few minutes. I am not sure how it came about but I ended up teling her that we were there because my mom had just been diagnosed with end stage lung cancer and she wanted to take my dd on her first trip to wdw but knew that once she started radiation and chemo she would not be able to travel. The CM asked me to wait for a minute so she could find out where Daisy was going to be next. Well about ten minutes went by and dd was getting anxious to leave when all of a sudden the cm came back with Daisy, the white rabbit, king john, and gideon. Now we were not in view from the main walkwa so no one knew the characters were there. My dd and my mom got to "play" with the characters alone for about ten minutes before the characters had to go back in. I can not tell you what this meant to me. I am sitting her crying just thinking back on it. My dd still talks about her dance with Daisy and Grandma. My mom fought long and hard but lost her battle with cancer in January of 2004. However that trip with her and dd gave them lots to talk about and remember during my moms time when she could not get around.

While we have experinced many disney like behaviors before and since this there will never be anything more macigal for me. :wizard:

now thats magic. brought tears to my eyes reading it. what a wonderful memory

Mom to a princess, I'm not one to cry by any means, but this one got me. What a beautiful memory you and your daugher can cherish for the rest of your life. Isn't it wonderful how CM's can do what they believe are "such little tasks" and they can honestly create some of the best memories of people's lives. :goodvibes

We always like to give out the fast passes.
And extra glow necklaces to the kids around us.

It really makes our day to see a smile on peoples faces.

It is nice to see that so many people like to do the surprising as well as being surprised.

We went to Disneyland over Christmas break. While we were in the area we decided to go to Legoland also (another amusement park adored with everything Lego). We were there on 12/28 and had two extra childrens passes that expired on 12/31. Since we knew we wouldn't use them I looked for a family that had two boys (like I do). I walked up to the dad and asked him if he was buying childrens passes. He said yes. I handed him the two passes and said Merry Christmas. He looked at me a little amazed, was kinda speechless and said thank you. I saved him about $100 and the look on his face made my day. :goodvibes

i am bumping this thread up as i think its a great read!!!

and i will add: i don't do anything extroidinary, i will give up my seat to someone who needs it more than i (even if i have my kids with me) i always offer to take pictures for people, i hold the door, i give room for those with wheelchairs to pass, just common courtesy things.

its great to read abot the fast pass idea. i will do that when we go!

DD did something nice on our last trip in March 2005.

On our way out of EPCOT one night she spotted a wallet on the ground. It was a pink princess one. I told her we should take it to guest services. So we went in and there was a long wait. DD(13) remembered when she had lost something once at WDW and it was never found so she peeked in the wallet and found a business card. She asked me if we could just call and find out there room and return. I thought sure. It would ensure the little girl would get it back quicker. Well, could find them staying on property so DD said we could e-mail when we get home (Leaving the next day).

As soon as we get home she e-mails the name on the card saying she found "something" at EPCOT and did they have a little girl who might have lost something? Sure enough we get an e-mail back. DD says she'll mail the wallet to them. About a week later DD received a thank you note from the little girl.

We also had a great CM help us once with DS who lost his hat. DS was about 8 and had a basball hat with pins on it. He took it off in the bathroom at Cosmic Rays and left it there. We went back and they had the hat but someone had taken all the pins - 6 of them. DS cried and DH was mad. The CM gave us a voucher for 8 free pins from any store at MK. We thought it was extremely nice to give us more pins than we lost.

This is from ucfsweetie82's fiance
She is a cm, and gets some extra tickets. For Christmas, instead of taking her friends and family she offers the tickets to my sister's family of 5, and not only that she bought autograph books and pens for the kids(Boys 8, 6, and 3), to make sure they would have a good time. I just wanted to share this because she would never put this under here herself.

Our middle daughter has a fairly unusual name (Delia) and was always sad not to find those engraved pencils and mugs and things with her name on it like her sisters can do. For some reason ("middle-child syndrome??" ;) ), it seemed to make her feel less special to be unique. Before our WDW trip she had never met anyone with the same name.

Anyway, we were checking into AKL when we noticed our CM was also named Delia. Our daughter was ecstatic and they had a nice little conversation. Then the CM upgraded us into wonderful rooms with a view of the animals and specifically said she was doing it "for Delia." Delia later ran down to bring her a little bottle of maple syrup -- a gift from our home state.

I'm usually the parade "seat saver" and I always save an extra seat for a little one who ends up behind us. Last time the little boy gave my a very intricately colored picture. The mom said I was very lucky since he had been coloring it for days.

One time I was sitting on a bench at AK actually looking for a family to give our extra fastpasses to. We were on our way out. A little boy walked by with a bunch of flowers, let go of his dad's hand and came over and handed them to me, it was so cute. Of course that family got the Fast Passes!!! :teeth:

We had a great experience this past August. We were in toontown and DD 7 wanted to see Sleeping Beauty. Her picture was not on the board so we asked a CM if she could find out when SB would be there. She made a call and told us that SB was indeed back there but they just had not put her picture up. The line was rather long but we waited patiently. However, when we got back there, there was no SB and DD was so upset. A CM asked what was wrong and we told her what had happened. So she asked us to wait and then came back after a few minutes and took us to a hallway and told us that SB would be there in about 20 minutes and that DD could be the first one to see her. We were thrilled, SB is that DDs favorite and sure enough in 20 minutes that CM came to get us so DD could see SB.

I also have to add that DH and I love to play skee-ball at the beach and we love to give our pile of tickets to other children (of course when ours aren't with us). We've been doing that ever since we started dating almost 20 years ago.

We have had so many times happen that CMs were good to us we can hardly count them all. The kids (a long time ago, when they were all little) being picked to be in the MK parade. Them getting to ride in the front of the monorail. :cloud9: The bus driver dropping us off-route at the Dolphin from EP after we had missed the last boat back from the WS gate. :thanks: The parking attendants saluting when we show them our AP. :thumbsup2

There aren't many places where you get service like you do at WDW!

Tim, who wants to thank Crow for tipping us off about the QB Skills Challenge at WWS in April 1997! We had a great time watching Brett face off against the other NFL QBs.

I always try and grab a fast pass on my way out of the parks and I hand it to a family on their way in. I usually try to give it to the family that looks like they didn't realize they should plan for the trip. :rotfl2:

My daughter has gotten random CMs to sign her autograph book. She made a bus driver's day on the way to dropping us off at the Polynesian for a character breakfast and she made Belle's assistant really happy at the story telling.

The unheralded cast members at Disney deserve some attention at times!

I would like to know where you all are getting these glow bracelets from in bulk ?

I buy them at the dollar stores. Either 6 bracelets for $1 or two necklaces and 4 bracelets for $1.

I am sorry that you lost you mom. What a wonderful memory to have.

This is why I love Disney. If Walt were still alive, it would be even more magical than it is.
