Disney-Like Behavior...Inspired by UnDisney-Like Behavior

I just remembered another event from that trip with my mom (see earlier post). DD and I had gone to MK by oursleves as my mom needed to rest. I was nervouse because my mom was not feeling well and I had never taken dd to place so large by myself. DD and I had a wonderful time but on the way back we were tired and worn out. The bus was packed. I did get a seat but I had a lot to manage with dd (18 mos at the time), diaper bad and stroller. About two seconds into the ride dd starts screaming for her bottle which ofcourse I can not get to because my bag is our of reach. A very nice person without asking got eh bottle for me. It made mine and dds day.

So I just want to say thank you to that person and to all the people who will hold a door, an elevator, or ofter a kind gesture when I am out with my dd. Since it is just dd and myself now I do not expect anyone's help but I can tell you that when it is offered it is very much appreciated. :sunny:

We had more fun one New Year's Eve Day.... We went in early (was EE rather than EMH)..
one of the silly things that we do on NYE Day is get pictures of the 'ride board' and some of
the wait times signs throughout the day.... we got in EEARLY and got onto all of the
Fantasyland rides that we wanted to do... Around noon, we decided to work on "getting out of
Dodge" and so we were working our way through the most incredible people traffic jam
by Peter Pan/Small World...
We got over to Small world and the wait for Small World was 60mins! WOW!... So we set up
to get a picture, and this CM (looked like a manger type) came over laughing and asked if she
could take our picture (so's we could all get into the pic).. we told her only if we could get a
pic with her, too... So, we did so. laughing all the time...
So, this CM says "you guys are keeping your sense of humor through the day... Here
have a "master FastPass" for the whole group! This is one of the handwritten FastPasses
that works for EVERY ride, not just the FP ones...
How COOL!

So, we had some extra FP's and gave them away (Space Mountain) that we gave away
on the way out (the standby line was 270!!!!! minutes) We made a family's day!!

WDW does things like that for people, and not just the CM's, who really make the time
that we've spent there magical.. It really is the most magical place on Earth..!

When we went to WDW in 2004, I caught on to the idea of taking pictures for other groups. It seems like everyone was offering to take pictures. It was really cool to have the whole family in the picture. Anyway, we made a side to Daytona (DH is a big NASCAR fan). While there I spread some Disney magic and offered to take another family's picture for them. They in turn took our picture. The look on their face for just that small act of kindness was priceless. But then having your whole group in the picture is even more priceless.

Now whenever I see a group getting ready for pictures I try to offer to take the picture for them. No matter where we are.

I get these on ebay. 1000 for around $60. I take some to work with me and sell them for .25 each. I always get my money back. What I take to WDW I consider as free!!!!!

Because of Hurricane Wilma DBF was unable to go during our December trip (he's an apt maintenence supervisor, still had major cleanup and roof repairs). We had bought our MVMCP tickets in advanced and ended up having an extra ticket. On the tram from the parking lot I asked several people if they were attending the party and if they bought tickets already. No one seemed to be attending the party that night. As we were passing by the ticket windows, we saw a couple with their young son. I asked if they were buying MVMCP tickets, the wife said they were, I handed her one of our tickets, told her we had prebought them and that we were giving her a ticket. She insisted that she couldn't accept it. I told her it was non-refundable and I didn't want it going to waste. Her husband tried paying me for the ticket. I declined. Again I told them I didn't want it going to waste. We saw them a couple of times after that and each time they kept thanking us and wanting to give us money. I said no, its my good deed for the day.

During that trip we had gone to Epcot early to ride Soarin' (love that ride). We had ADRs for breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, so we grabbed some fastpasses to use when we returned. On the monorail trip back (car was parked at Epcot) we decided to just drive over to MGM. A couple was telling a single woman about Soarin and how the wife wanted to try it. The young woman said she also wanted to try it. The husband said he would head over to Soarin' right away to get the wife a fast pass (they were in their 60's). I handed the couple our fast passes and told them they were good and this way they wouldn't have to wait to ride Soarin'. The husband wasn't interested in riding, so the wife handed the other fastpass to the young woman. She asked if I was sure, I told her yes that we were going to MGM to ride RnR. Its nice knowing that I made someone's first time on Soarin' a little more special.

We were just there and went up to the train platfrom in MK. We found 2 chairs and pulled up to the railing to wait for the parade. Another family that looked to be kids, parents and Gparents came up next to us. We moved over so they had room for everyone. A little later a mom and 2 kids came up, one in a stroller, and wanted to use the space between us and the family for their stroller. The Gma next to us told her they were putting their stroller there. I was going to let the kids stand in front of us. I didn't get to let them though. The Gma ended up shifting things around and found room on the other side of her for the stroller. The 2 kids and their mom ended up with room to watch the parade. The neat thing was I heard the Gma from the first group come back up from doing something while waiting for the parade, and tell them she had decided to check lost and found for a package. Someone had turned the sack with all their stuff they had bought, to lost and found. It was neat to see someone rewarded back for being nice.

I love all these nice stories. Sometimes, just a small act of kindness can leave a big impression. We've given away a few fastpasses. In fact, the first time we did it.. I had to explain to the folks we were giving them to what a Fastpass was and how you used it.
Last year, we were getting ready to see Soarin'. First of all, the CM miscounted and my Hubby was left out-then the other theatre had problems. So they can to switch everyone around. This caused quite a commotion-we had to move to another theatre. With all the commotion we ended up in front of unhappy guy-who complained about his wait. When he gave the whole story, his whole family has been waiting for him. We let him go in front of us. The CM saw this and asked us if we could wait another show. My hubby said,"We can wait. We're not going anywhere-it's Disneyworld. We're happy!""
The CM smiled. The next show we got the center seats front row... The next day, we came back to ride Soarin again. We saw the same CM-as we commented on how well they handle the situation the night before. He loudly announced to his co-workers. "This is the nice family from last night.. Give em the best seats in the house." So, once again, we got the front and center seats.. :woohoo:

*Same type of topic: Right after Christmas,(28th of Jan.) my hubby was deploying to Afghanistan. My hubby and the 3 others in his group were sitting at their gate in their full desert gear (We also got to the gate.), a few people came up and shook their hands and thanked them for their service. One older lady in particular shook my hubby's hand and then came up to me and my 9 yr old daughter and thanked us as well... That was truly sweet.

Only 3 more months til Hubby comes home and we see the Mouse in his House

Last year we got caught in a sympathy slow down by United for the Northwest airlines strike, and missed our 8am plane! A ten hours later, we punted and got on a different airline, dragging ourselves (DH, DW, DDs 6&8) into the Contemporary at something close to 9pm. CM Patricia, sent from heaven, took one look at us and began showering us with so much Disney-magic positive attention that we nearly forgot the pain of the day in the first 15 minutes at WDW, and then we completely forgot it when she told us that she had upgraded us to the tower overlooking the park, and if we wanted we could go to our room and catch Wishes from our balcony. You bet I wrote a letter to Disney praising her when I got back!

I have never had or even witnessed a CM do anything un-Disney...I have unfortunately only seen park-goers, and too many honestly, be selfish, mean, foul, unpleasant...

..but we can be good too. I have had other parents search me out to hand off their Disney strollers to me as they were leaving the park, countless people let me catch up to my family in lines when I have been separated from them, friends I've nver met offer to share anything and everything, from food and drink, seats and tables, to fastpasses, Disneyana, you name it. There is magic there, just need to be ready to see it!

rabyoga, I just want you to know how much I appreciate your DH and all of the military. Please tell him thank you from me.

We were staying at a resort with our granddaughter. We had just checked into our room and were putting things away. When my DGD opened a drawer and there was a Sorceror's Mickey plush! She just knew that Mickey had left it for her! It was a wonderful way to start our vacation. So now I try to leave a plush toy in our room when we leave for the next child at heart!

First, as to the glow sticks...I get them either at www.orientaltradingcompany.com or www.illuminationz.com.

Anyway, this is for all the large families who tend to get undeserved comments about the size of their family. At DL last year, my boys and I stood in line right in front of a family of 8 boys, a mom, and a dad. I admit I did my fair share of counting up the heads and thinking, "wow, 8 kids" at first, but instead of just staring, I chatted with the parents, who were a bit frazzled. I was so impressed with these boys! I have three boys myself, and get my own comments about having ALL boys, and aren't they wild, etc. No, they are not, thank you very much! So there was no way I was going to comment on the fact that they were all boys. They did some normal wiggling and goofing off in line, but the parents handled it with positive discipline, and everything was very peaceful. I was very impressed with how well they all behaved. They ranged in age from about 1 to about 16. All adorable little blonds.

Nothing major, but I was impressed by how well behaved they were, and how calm the parents were. Truly a nice change from the horrors you can see with parents out of control! :goodvibes So if that was you and your family, well done! :moped:

Just wanted to get this thread back out there. I enjoy reading about the good moments people have had as well.

This is the greatest board! I was able to "sprinkle the pixie dust" on one of my trips. I, an adult solo traveler, was in line to get my picture taken with Minnie. The crowded line was really pushing Minnie's time and her handler told me that I would be the very last. Now behind me was a Father and daughter. As the handler rushed the others ahead and it came to my time I said I'd the Father and daughter to take my spot and I started to turn to leave when Minnie ran up, grabbed me and held out her hand saying wait. The Father and daughter got their picture taken (the little girl was thrilled beyond means!) and the Father was so touched he ended up taking my picture with Minnie since Minnie wouldn't have it that I didn't get my picture taken. I felt so good that day.

When going solo I always offer to take pictures for whole families because it's always one person missing. Most of the time they love the offer and accept the gesture. But I still get a few that look at me like I had just tried to hold them up. LOL Ely

Hello everyone we as on our last day in magic kingdom and i wanted to wim a toy for my fiancee only a little one. we played this game i forget which one and one the most massive cuddly toy which was great. But we were also flying back to the UK that day and to be honest didn't want the hassle of having to check it in when we got there as we had already checked in our bags. So we decided that we would give it to some people who would really enjoy it. We found this group of young kids on a school trip wit the teacher who seemed to be having a hard time keeping control of the kids as you probably can imagine. So guess what we gave it to the teacher and i don't think she could beleave her eyes. She said i can't give you noughing for it but all we said we wanted was to see the child who behaeves the best get the toy. We also gave her our email and 3 weeks later she sent us an email and she thanked us again and said that for the rest of the week she never had kids that behaeved so well...... I thought that was really nice of her.
I thinked thst she was shocked to see a Young British couple be so nice.
cheers
Trevor + Samantha

I just ordered a mess of glow bracelets on eBay for less than the prices at Oriental Trading (a store I love for things like this).

Hoping I can spread some magic to some kids in the evenings we're at the parks. :thumbsup2

We went last August and they had the free dining plan. But after about 3 days of too many desserts, we would just share desserts from the Counter Service meals and then hand out the (still wrapped) extra desserts to other families in the vicinity (I always asked the parents discretely first, just in case).
