disney just called;error in their system

I am leaving in 5 days, staying at Pop century. Disney just called and said there was a error in there system. There's no room at this resort. I would be move to All Star resorts...They only thing they offer to me was I would have preferred rooms. I am not thrilled at all. I told them I would have to talk to my husband,. What do you think?

Where is the preferred room in All Star Movies?

:goodvibes I am sure this has been mentioned but I would call and ask for a better upgrade. The Pop is the only Value I have ever considered staying at; own buses, fun theme, great food court. This is Disney's responsibility, not yours. The AllStars are Value but not comparable if you ask me. Call and ask for a supervisor and keep us posted. I wouldn't take no for an answer.

I would nicely try for an upgrade to a mod. or deluxe. don't yell or be nasty. if no luck, maybe OKW or SSR. (in my opinion, there is a reasonthey offer free upgrades to these DVC dedicated resorts. some love them, but to us they are bland and boring and everything is far away from everything. It's like staying in an apt. complex. I would rather stay at all stars, myself).

then, I would ask if there are any large tour groups of teens at the all stars. stay at the one where they aren't!

movies is really cute... we like it. (pop might be noisy across the lake with the construction of the animation resort, so the "lake walk" might not be so nice.)

tell them you want one of the "original" preferrred rooms (like, you DON"T want the touchdown section at sports. but the surf's up section is really kinda pretty and the pool is huge. or, at movies, you want fantasia. you do NOT want a parking lot view!)

second, you want a free fridge, for your willingness to move.

third, nicelypoint out that you were looking forward to the threepools at pop, and think it would be good customer service if they threw in passes to a water park for each of your family. (to use either this trip, or, because your dinner ressies are already booked and you don't have time for a water park,, make sure they don't expire until used)

you don't have to "roll over and play dead". but, you can nicely request some compensation. what about fast passes for MK?

but, as stated before, be NICE, and sound understanding (even if you don't understand). i.e., "I understand your situation. mistakes happen. but I would like you to understand mine. we are VERY disappointed (be nice), and would like a free fridge, too. (or whatever....). "

I understand what you're saying, but for us, the resort is extremely important because we plan to spend a fair bit of time there. I think Disney wants us to think of these resorts as a destination - that's part of why they each have a unique theme. So, even though the parks are the same, that's only half of what makes up our vacation :).

I also get your point about being lucky to go, but I still disagree. I thank God every time I get to go to Disney and I know we're blessed. I also work hard to be able to go and I expect to get what I paid for. I don't expect Disney to guarantee my happiness ;), but at least to honor their committment to me.

I agree with you, except if the htoel is booked the hotel is booked. The OP didn't seem to be as upset as you would be so I was offering an option. 5 days out, if you have vacation time, etc it is unlikely they will cancel. So she can spend 5 days being upset and letting it set the tone for her trip, or she can just try to make the best out of it. I agree with you the hotels themes are important. But if she isn't able to stay there her theme has to change.

And we work realllllly hard for our trips too. My DH works 60 hours a week every week. He is hoping to have Saturday off and if he does it will be his first day off in 27 days. Working full time though the lst 3 weekends. Trust me, he knows hard work. I recently lost my job but after years of being a SAHM I had to become a saving feak and have only gotten better at it. My kids ask for money for b-days instead of stuff so they can do extras in Disney. But yo uknow, I have friends who also work hard and still wouldn't ever be able to afford a trip, so while we are working hard for this trip, we are still really lucky to be able to have it.

Basically what I am saying is more to the OP then you cause she didn't seem as upset. I am just saying all you can do is make the best out of it. Look at what POPl didn't offenr and try to make the best out of it. Just my thoughts, if yo ugo in upset it won't be great. If you go in with a smile on your face it may just be.

And on the bright side, if they are moving you to the AllStars they are obviously less busy, that is a good thing, right?

They are offering a comparable resort, and an upgrade to preferred rooms - WHY should they have to the OP more??

I have no doubt that every single person / company in this world has made a mistake - it's human nature. We ALL screw up. Why is it that people are never satisfied with what is offered?

So many people complain that the prices are getting to high for an affordable Disney vacation. Has anyone ever stopped to wonder that this type of demands has anything to do with the rising costs?

Greed will get you no where.

This is just my opinion - not meant to flame anyone.

ASMO is the worst resort I have ever stayed at. I wouldn't stay there if it was free ever again. I had a so called preferred room too in the dalmation area. POP is far superior to ASMO, you cannot state resorts at Disney are comparable to each other especially the values, they are themed so differently.
A comparable resort for me would include the reasons I had booked Pop Century. A resort with one bus stop that doesn't share buses with other resorts. A lake to walk around at the end of the day. A large food court that has tie died cheesecake.

I don't think the All Stars can fill in those.

I agree - I still head over to POP for the tie dye cheesecake every trip.
POP is my favorite value hands down. To me it truly feels like a step in between a moderate and value resort, the modvalue resort level.

OP, I would stay offsite over ASMO any day. You need to call back and tell them servers do not cause over booking, servers stop working and they don't accept reservations if they are not working. Other issues may occur to cause problems with their systems, but the server excuse is misleading.

Good luck!

Very nice post with some reasonable possibilities!

To each his own I guess, but the parks are the same, the rides are the same. It isn't like you are losing out on much but theme by switching. Neither have waterslides, neither has TS restaurants. I don't know. I guess we just alwasy count ourselves lucky that we get to go at all. I have heard pleanty of people both here an IRL who knock the AllStars so bad but I would bet millions of families who will never get to go would give anyting to get to experience a vacation in Disney. Is it great that this happened, no. But to let it ruin a vacation that in every other way is the same, I don't know. I guess the hotel doesn't mean that much to me. I'm not saying it shouldn't matter to you or anyone else, but with so many people who have nothing, if this is the least of your troubles yo uare pretty lucky. Just my thoughts, I am sure you don't agree and that is fine, but maybe it will help the OP who didn't seem to feel so strongly.

ETA- I wasn't saying the hotle would necessarily be amazing in your book, but the trip as a whole I would think still would be. I guess that is not everyone's opinion.

I dunno, if you booked at Poly and were bumped down to Pop, I'm not sure "Gee, I'm so grateful I can go to Disney at all" would be your first thought. ;)

Not mine anyway.

I would not cancel, or stay off-site, just to make a point. I think you would be disappointed. movies is very nice (you can use the pools at ll 3 allstars, by the way.)

But she wasn't bumped from a deluxe to a value.

Then again, as long as I wasn't paying for more then I was getting, you know I still would be saying that. I guess I am alone in that, but yeah I still would.

I assumed you work hard for your vacations and I certainly know we are blessed to be able to go - yes, some people (including me sometimes) are stuck in situations where they can't go no matter how hard they work). I do appreciate your point about making the best of a bad situation - we have all had to do that. I still think Disney should offer a little something to keep it magic, but its OK if not everybody on here agrees. I'm not so upset that I'll lose sleep :goodvibes. I guess I just want to know that Disney will honor MY agreement with them.

I agree with this 100% but I would be prepared to leave and have alternate arrangements. While this will not change Disney's mind (they are overbooked and do not care if you walk) you will know that you have a plan and a place to stay even if you cannot work things out. I have not stayed at a value. However, if I were going to I would book Pop based on everything I have read here it is the only one I would even consider.

I would be upset. I stayed at both and the POP is so much nicer. We stayed at the All stars last August and I would NEVER stay there again. I even got my husband to give in and buy at the bay lake towers so I don't have to. If your room is paid for there is no reason to overbook and if they did they should be upgraded. 2 years ago when they overbooked they moved people to SSR. I would keep calling until I spoke to someone who could help me. Michelle

I like this post too - its not worth canceling a whole trip to make a point. But if its a deal breaker, its nice to have the option.

I also agree that movies is very nice. We had lots of fun there several years ago.

Well we agree there, it would be nice if Disney would offer them something (for me the prefered room means nothing, we actually prefer the non-prefered rooms.) Dinner vouchers, waterparks, anything would be nice and I am surprised that they aren't. I also would be upset to read some are getting great upgrades and others aren't. I was just trying to give the OP who seemed on the fence somet houghts on getting excited about her trip, even with the changes, so it doesn't ruin her trip.I guess I am jsut saying to her to try and not let it ruin her trip before she even gets there.

Lots of good points. I agree with everything you posted. Sorry if I misinterpreted anything earlier :).

You don't have to cancel the trip just stay off site, you can stay at the Embassy Suites for less and still have money left over to rent a car. I would not want to share a bus at a large resort. We always rent a car even though we stay deluxe for this very reason. I would not change just to make a point but I would change to get a better location, service etc.

I've stayed at POP and Movies. I did like POP marginally better because it was new and shiny when we stayed there. But to tell you the truth I would not want to stay at a filled to capacity POP. I would much rather stay at a less busy All Stars. I would ask to be put in the All Stars that is first on the bus route.

When we went in Jan 09, two days before we left, my TA called and said that she received a call from Disney, they had over-booked All Star Sports, they upgraded us to CBR. It was a beautiful resort. I would be upset also if others are being upgraded to a moderate and you arent. When we go in Dec, we are staying at POP. It would be awesome to get a call like we did last time. I just couldnt get the money together this time to do CBR. But hey, Ill take an upgrade!

I guess we're odd because we're excited to stay at ASMu.

The reality is that there may not be any other alternative than what Disney is offering. And if the people who are being asked to move do not like it they should take their business elsewhere. That is the only clear way to send a message of dissatisfaction to a company.

Where is the preferred room in All Star Movies?

Fantasia is the preferred rooms at Movies. Calysco is preferred at Music. Surfs up is preferred at Sports.

We just returned from our ASMusic & really enjoyed it. They have great activities going on at the guitar pool daily, including an outdoor disney movie every night at 9pm.

Bus service was excellent at all stars. True, they do share buses most of the time but honestly it took no longer to hit those 3 bus stops than making a loop around CBR or CSR when we stayed there.

I have not stayed at POP so I can't compare it to allstars but having now stayed at all 3 all stars we enjoyed them all. You can use any of the 6 pools at the 3 all stars if staying at all stars.

I read you are disappointed not getting to stay at POP but I don't think you'll have any less a good time staying at the all stars. Good luck, hope you have a great trip.
