and that's exactly where you and everyone else who is waiting to ride will be and guess what? Those attractions will be crazy full. The reason the lazy river and wave pool are pleasant is because you have some people stuck in queues while the rest of us wait until closing time to do that stuff or do it first thing in the morning.I hope this works. I love water parks, but after my experiences in summer 2015 and 2016, not planning to go back. The lines are just too long. I'd love to be able to wait in the wave pool or lazy river for my time on one of the headliners.
So basically FP for water parks. That could be interesting though I must say, I never really recall lines long enough for it to be necessary. Granted, the last time we were at WDW during a really busy period was about 20 years ago so things may have gotten worse.
When DH and I were there in November we rode Crush n' Gusher 12 times. I think the longest line we waited in had about 4 people in it.
Go during the summer months and Crush N Gusher will have a 60 minute wait.
Ew. Yeah when we were there last fall we basically walked right on every time. A few times we walked up the stairs and had all of three groups in front of us. Early November is a stellar time to go I think. Food and Wine was still going on, the crowds were low, the weather was great.
I'm all for this too but my biggest problem with water parks is:#EliminateStandby
I'm all for this - when lines are long for rides, standing barefoot on that really painful concrete is NOT fun.

#EliminateStairs
It's one thing for exercising in the water parks but near the end of the day my feet want to die. Not to mention I'm afraid of slipping on them. At my local water park asking about elevators inadvertly made my mom think i had an imaginary girlfriend. That is the one thing I'm curious about with volcano bay, being one of the first new MAJOR water parks after the ADA act and universal being a major pusher for enforcing it. One of the press releases for islands mentions it being the most disabled-friendly park built at the time so it led me to think how they would do volcano bay
Disney has started to #EliminateStairs with the new Miss Adventure Falls attraction at Typhoon Lagoon. You board the raft at the bottom and travel up the conveyer in your raft. Smart idea, and I think will become the future for all new slides Disney installs (hopefully anyway!)I'm all for this too but my biggest problem with water parks is:

Will be interesting to see, if this test is sucessful, whether Disney links into MDE and releases a MagicBand 3.0 with a way to notify guests about return times etc. (maybe a small screen, or simply a buzz or similar?) Time will tell, but heard good things about the tests so far!At the Walt Disney World water parks similar to Universal

Because a lot of people don't carry their phones in the water (or in the park as a whole tbh), so there would be no effective way to notify guests without something in/on the MagicBand. Only other way I can think of that they could do it is by having kiosks around the park where guests can tap their MagicBand and see their return time. Why wouldn't it work just like the current fastpass+ system where you choose your ride time and return within the window? Why would there need to be a different notification system?
I'm sure there is a way, they just haven't chosen to implement it. I don't see why they couldn't have escalators that are run on a sensor (similar to grocery store conveyers). They obviously couldn't be constantly moving.Yes, this will definitely be welcome. I kinda wish there was a way to do escalators for the water slides.
