That is what my sister in law said to me at the beach! And continued to tell me why it was.
(yet she goes to Hawaii)
I obviosly do not agree!!:)
I think it is so strange that people feel the need to tell you how wrong you are to love Disney!!!!
Anyone else feel they need to defend themselves??~!!

I know many people who say that to me as well, and turthfully at this point, I do not feel the need to defend myself anymore. Either they "get it" or they don't. The rest don't seem to bother me... more room at WDW for me ;)

Here, here! I could go a thousand times and never feel like it was a rip off. On the other hand, I constanly look at other destinations and say, hmm, how many nights, what is admission.... WDW is always a better deal to me, even if it costs more!

Im so glad I have you all that "get it" :) Poobear 123 we need to have a dis meet we are too close!! He Do you need a hairdresser?? I already am 2 Disers hairdressers!! :)

Some people will never understand. Of course there are thousands (if not millions) of people who won't spend the money to go to WDW, but don't mind spending as much, and often much more, at casinos. I especially get a kick when they brag about those "free" rooms and meals!

I'll stick with WDW, thank you very much!:earsboy:

Yea, once after I made the comment that Disney is my favorite place on earth, my boss said that is because I don't know any better! I told him that I have been to Europe, Canada, and Mexico, and have traveled the USA - I know better!;)

So many foolish people just don't get "it"!

P.S. My hair looks great!:teeth:

OOOH, Ranatra that is the best line! I will have to borrow that one when I come across those comments again.

It is just such a nice place to be for a week every so often. :) Before I went there, I/we used to say the same thing. I recall very often having a lack of understanding of how some families from the church/school could go EVERY year. It seemed weird that they would go to hot Florida to go to 'just another amusement park'. Heck, we had 6 Flags right here in our backyard. They must be 'weird', LOL. One trip back in '98 showed me the light. :earsboy:

I just smile and don't say a word to those non-Disney people.:teeth: Silence says so much sometimes.;)

shes right, where like junkies looking for the next fix :smooth: ,so when you going again :bounce:

Disnee Dad Says........................What's to defend?
Up until 1996 I always wanted to see the golf ball (EPCOT), but figured I never could.
Grew up really poor, finally got to go to DL at 17, my senior year. How many years mom saved for that I will never know, but that "magic" kids have was reborn in full force. Yes that was me riding Dumbo at 17 with a smile on my face, I confess!
The military moved me to Sacramento, so I was able to make a few trips to DL over the next dozen years. Still thought the golf ball would be great, but I'll never see it.

Move ahead to 1996, we saved up some bucks for a vacation to do B.C., or something west coast. Then I heard about test track, and it was like if we save for another year I can go see the golf ball! DW was most supportive of this idea!

So we go in 1997. Was I struck by the magic, no ,i well ok yes. Was I thrilled by the rides? Not really, well kinda, ok I loved everyone! And I got to ride in the golfball! Several times.
Sorry to wreck the story, but the biggest thoughts I had on that first trip were very selfish. The feeling that I had arrived at middle class, that I deserved this trip that I waited a lifetime for. Most thankfull that we could pour lots of bucks into a trip that so many can't. So we went back, 1999,2001,2002.

So, what is there to defend?

Ilove that (as some would say) "ripped-off" feeling Disney gives me.

This past February we took one of our Granddaughters to Disney for the first time. She was the kind of person who would never leave her Mom. After years of trying to talk her into coming with us, and it ended up being only her brother. Her Dad is one of those "rip-off" people. This year she finally decided it was time to leave Mom and Dad and vacation with Mamu and Grandfather.

Three nights into the trip, while we were waiting for her pearl to be set in Japan. She asked if we could return next year, she loved it here. PIXIE DUST struck again.

I can't improve on Elaine's statement!

yep, I remember planning our "once in a lifetime" trip. I had talked with a couple of people that I knew had been and found out the had been MANY times. I really just "didn't get it". We took that first trip in 1995 - and well I "got it" - as my signature will tell on me.;)

I know people who view disney as a rip off too. They see the cost, and since they have not been there, think its just too expensive. They don't realize that its a resort destination. Then there are others who went way back when, and don't like that its changed and you don't get as much.
We went for our honeymoon, and some of the people who 'don't get it' laughed and asked why. They don't realize that we probably spent more money, and had more fun than going to Hawaii (our other choice). We're not beach people and would rather have things to do...but even if we wanted to relax, we did that too. I agree that some things are expensive there, but for some reason, it doesn't matter when you're there. :D

My response is you vacation where you want, and I'll vacation where I want ;) .

There is just some things you don't bring up in conversation: religion, politics, and VACATIONS! ;)
