Maybe its just me and I don't understand ..... Was told by an agent that if my airline does not operate the airfare is not covered. I expected them to say that. However they also said the TRIP package with room, tickets etc.... is also NOT COVERED in this situation. The person I spoke with even checked with a supervisor...........
Is there a better insurance or one that would cover more ???

Yes, there probably was.
However, you generally have to buy it within a certain period of purchasing the package.

I use www.insuremytrip.com

Now that said, my bet is on Disney doing the right thing IF they sold you the package including airfare. They probably will give refunds etc. like they do during hurricanes, but not gurantees! (And I doubt the CRO folks have a clue right now!)

These days packages look less and less inviting. If you book your own airfare, do a room only and purchase tickets either at the park or early from a vendor that allows returns you have a lot more control over your costs should you need to cancel. (And allows you to cancel the room at a much later date than a package does.)

With airlines as they are these days, I'd much prefer to be the one directly working with and negotiating with them, rather than have a third party such as Disney or other TA attempting to see what they could do.

have Disney insurance and I am not sure what you are saying. What do you mean if my airline does not operate? Are you talking about the Airline or my scheduled flight? What Agent told you this, Disney or Travel? You have my attention..

Thanks

The insurance company told me what I posted. I called Disney and they said that I would loose $200 on each of my reservations. It was explained that if you cannot go due to an airline not flying ( out of business) that it was NOT a covered reason. It was not considered trip delay or any other reason the insurance covers. Even with insurance you would be out $200 for each reservation.
Hope I explained this ???

Like I said above I knew the airline tickets were not covered, I was concerned about my package.

Also beware that even with good insurance you won't be covered if the airlines most likely to default do so.

Some policies exclude coverage due to financial default, some policies (insurers) have a list of suppliers that are insured and others cover any carrier (but typically you have to purchase that coverage shortly after you book your trip).

This just another reason to purchase your own trip insurance.
