Hi! Was wondering if May is a good time to be at Disney. Crowd wise and weather wise. We were planning to go next September but are now scared that next September will be like this one with Hurricanes! Does anyone know if schools have any breaks in May? Should we travel mid may to avoid spill-over April vacationers? Thanks.

I've gone the first or second week of May the past 5 years, staying at OKW. It's a great time to go. Crowds are not bad. The weather can be hot, some trips it was well into the 90's. This past May was nice, mid 80's. Little rain. Flower & Garden Festival is nice at Epcot.

We love May at WDW. The Flower & Garden Show is running in Epcot and the crowds aren't bad at all if you avoid the Memorial Day weekend.

Good to know because we are headed down May 14th. Big family gathering in an OKW GV!!!!:teeth:

We went over Memorial Day weekend one year, and I agree - avoid it if you can! Saturday, Sunday and Monday were very crowded. It was also very hot (mid 90s), with downpours every afternoon. That was the only time we've gone at that time of year, so I don't know if the weather was typical but I imagine the crowds are.

May is my favorite time to go. I try to keep to the beginning of the month. The temps are in the 80's to low 90's, but the real humidity of summer has not hit yet.

The crowds are not bad in May. Most school vacations are over and the Flower Festival is in full swing at Epcot. :sunny:

We have gone several times in May - we love that time of year. The Flower and Garden Show is terrific, and the parks are beautiful. We have had warm to hot weather and little rain. We like to go the first to second weeks, and we just take the grandkids out of school. Sandie

Our trip in May 2003 was my favorite. The weather was hot but the crowds were not bad. It did rain almost everyday but it would not last long. Last year we went in June. I would not do that again. We are going back in early May 2005. I can't wait.::MinnieMo

We went two years ago in May expecting the heat, but not expecting the crowds. From what I could gather, there were a ton of high school clubs - bands, singing groups, and seniors - there from the local area celebrating the end of their school year. The crowds were manageable, but the unsupervised herds of teens were at times bothersome for us. We had no idea about this when we went in May, so I thought I would pass it along. Maybe try to avoid it by going in early May? Good Luck! Regardless of the others, we had a great time - come on, we are in the happiest place on earth!!

We were there in May 2002 and it was very hot. Also there were more bugs there than I have ever saw. It was not that crowded except for smaller children, which we have. The lines at the big rides were short but the Dumbo ride was long. Overall it was a fun trip, but we are use to being there in July and Aug.

We were there the entire first week of May this year. Weather was great; it rained just part of one day. The crowds weren't bad. The only thing you need to watch out for is grad night, when MK closes early and (I believe) high school seniors get the run of the park. I'm not sure what the dates are for next year, but this happened the first night of our visit this year, May 1.

I love WDW in May! We went over Mother's Day in 2003, and had an enjoyable time. Wait times for attractions were not bad. I will say that it was hot! Unseasonably hot according to the Floridian's we spoke to. It was in the 90's and was humid. We had a short shower one day, otherwise we had sunshine. I would love to go back another May, but will likey shoot for the first week, instead of the second.

We were there for 8 days the first week of May 2004. This was our second trip with our 3 year old child. Our 1st trip was the last of September 2003. Let me say that the parks, resorts, buses -etc. was much more crowded. I thought this would be a good time to go but I was wrong!!!!! There were bus loads of school groups. Everyone else must have had the same idea because there were lots of small children everywhere. Early entry was not a benefit at all. We always arrived 45 minutes before opening but so did everyone else. We will not go back again in May. September was so much nicer as far as the crowds go. We are trying again this December to avoid the crowds. I hope you have better luck if you go in May.

We also went in May of 02....and enjoyed ourselves very much. The extreme young children group, those riding in the strollers were overwhelming on Memorial Day weekend. We escaped to Discovery Cove (highly recommend it if you have the large amount of money to cover. Swimming with dolphins is an experience beyond description!) Ther crowds ther are limited to a couple of thousand.
:bounce: :bounce:

Try to avoid Memorial Day weekend, otherwise. It makes for a very long day standing in lines!:earboy2:
