Hi,

my son is thinking of taking his 5 year old daughter and his partner to Disney in May for 2 weeks. He would like to know what the weather is like and also the best time to go for crowd levels [ beginning, middle, or end of month ].

I have only ever been in September so I really can't help him. Any info will be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Lyndon :)

We are going end of May (to include the half term) I believe it is quieter early May as they have a holiday towards the end of May. It can be warm with occasional rain but nothing like later in the summer. We are going with 5 and nearly 8 year old and its so lovely at their age the magic is completely there.

We were there 3-17th may this year and it was quite quiet the entire trip, not as quiet as early December or January though. We had a shower every day towards the end of the trip and after we left it got much more rainy which I think is unusual for so early in hurricane season.

We would go this time again!

We went in May 2010 from the 15th to the 30th and it was fine. It was very very busy around Memorial Day which falls on Mon 26th this year so for our upcoming trip we're going from May 4th to 21st so as to avoid those crowds. The weather was perfect, couldn't fault it in 2010. We're used to going in winter so the crowds were more than what we were used to but using a crowd calendar we didn't queue longer than 30 mins for anything (and that was Soarin on a really busy day!)

We went for 2 weeks at the very start of May a few years ago. We went in September last year. Although both seem to quiet times to go, we found May was slightly quieter although it was warmer (we had record highs in May when we went, it felt like the height of summer!)

We went first week of May 2012.

Weather was lovely - hot not humid. Parks busier than October but very manageable.

Flower and garden festival was on at epcot - DD aged 6 loved the tinkerbell garden and butterfly garden.

If he is not aiming for the school hol week at the end then there are usually decent late deals for May with charter flights eg cosmos/thomson.

I'm from the southeastern US and we go in (early) May as often as possible. We are planning our May 2013 trip now, as a matter of fact. The increase in rainy afternoons in the later part of May that continue throughout the summer are part of a summer weather pattern: Morning sun and afternoon showers/thunderstorms. If you look here, you'll see that the chance for afternoon storms/showers balloons from mid May onward. :butterfly
