Disney in December

we always go this time, the crowds are very low and it is so relaxing.

We go every year the first weekend in Dec. Last year crowd weren't all that bad, managable is a good word. This past Dec the crowds were insane. A few nights we had to wait upwards of about an hour to two just to get out of MK! This value season thing must really be catching on.

Any tips? How are crowds? What about the weather?

We've been the first week of December a lot. Our secret is to stay away from MK on Saturday. If you do that and work your intinerary so you're in the right place at the right time, the rest of it is quite managable.
We've walked down NY st for Osborne lights by ourselves, gotten on most rides in under 5 minutes, walked into restaurants with no reservations and hit MVMCP when it was low attendance.
I can't handle massive crowds and go to great lengths to avoid them. If they had the decorations up at the end of January I'd go then. That's when the CMs allow my dd to stay on Peter Pan as many times as she wants since she's only one of a handful on it. Walk on to everything.

The crowds the last week of January are lower than the first week of December?

In my experience, much much lower. Of all the times we've been to WDW, that first week of December seems packed, the last week of January a ghost town. Some people like the crowds for the atmosphere. I like to be the only one in the park. :)

We went this past Dec. 10-22. First time for us in Dec.. It was great! The crowds were very light the first week and got progressively more crowded as Christmas drew nearer.

The weather was all over the place. Shorts, sweaters, coats. I tried to pack somewhat light, but that didn't happen!

We'd love to do it again in Dec., but we'd go earlier and leave earlier!

Thanks so much we are going the 13-21 & i figured to get done doing all the major stuff before the 20th ( Sat before Xmas) I was also hoping it will be good because Xmas isn't till the following Thursday. I just wonder how much airfare is going to be that time of year?:scared1:

Yeah, I second this. End of January's totally deserted. It can also be FREEZING, though.

It was the only time we've had Tigger following us around looking for somebody to take a picture with:rotfl:

Our neice is a Cast Member in Management and tell us that the Holiday Decorations go up Nov. 15. She also mentioned that there's a new Holiday Parade this year and that the BEST time in December to go is the first two weeks after that it starts getting crowded.

We would like to go to WDW to see the Christmas Decorations this year. We were thinking about the first week b/c its a value week and uses less points. Have you been at that time? How are the crowds? Any tips? Suggestions?

You mention less points. Are you using DVC? If yes, don't wait too long to book this trip because DVC members love to go at this time of year and they fill quickly.:santa:

We are DVC members:thumbsup2 and booked our home resort at the 11th mo window, but have to wait for the 7 mo window to switch to the resort we want. Just wanted to get the best resort for our needs-and tips!
